John Houghton made me think - and that pleases me! I am now able to view the HP books with a greater depth I never could before.
His thought lines/processes are simple but deep concerning not just this 'subject' but he discusses several other stories, fables and ideas while maintaining his main thread. It is tempting to view the H.P. stories as harmless little fables but when examined, as it is by Mr Houghton, a deeper more insidious threat leaps up before the reader's eyes, which may have little or not impact on a mature adult's psyche but on the mind or a small child it can have a very severe impact on a 'person' of tender years.
We take so much at face value these days I think we really need someone to lead us beyond the superficial to a level that without us realising it can have sometimes a detrimental effect on the minds of not just small children but young adults. I am thankful that I have 2 well adjusted, now adult, children but not all children as as innately sceptical as mine.
The book reviews and analyses only the first 4 of the Harry Potter books but does it well. I'm glad I read it. Thanks.
