But otherwise I have no complaints. They wash easily, the zipper works and doesn't feel like it's a total bacteria condominium. I can fit three below-average-size carrots and several sticks of tri-color peppers in a single pouch, or way more cashews than a human can eat in one sitting. Seriously, way more cashews. Cashews are like fetuses: only so many should be inside the human body at once.
The colors and patterns aren't particularly masculine, but I am secure enough in my sexuality to brazenly eat from them at work. Except for from that purple one. I make sure that one's in the wife's rotation.
I don't care how you slice it, these aren't big enough to hold a sandwich. We got some other eco-friendly sandwich bags (ChicoBag® Snack Time™) that do just fine in that regard. They could probably fit a Subway Footlong if you're good at tesseract puzzles.
I am reserving one star because I believe in human ingenuity. I imagine there is a re-usable, BPA-free bag that could be sold for less and also be better. I don't feel like making and marketing it, however. But America, you are not on your own. Besides having Puerto Rico tagging along, you've also got Yummi Pouch. Dubious spelling aside, Yummi Pouch is your go-to option. Happy snacking!
This is the first set of Yummi pouches I have. My previous 2 sets are Bumkins. Honestly, they're pretty much the same. I'd say the fabric on these is slightly more rigid (the Bumkins ones you can wad up in your fist. These hold their shape a little more - the fabric feels slightly thicker). I don't personally find either one to be better or worse than the other. They're also the same size, and have the same zipper closure. Both are washable in the dishwasher or clothes washer.
I have the 'Sweet' colored set, and the colors are exactly as pictured.
These bags are so great. I pack goldfish, Cheerios, crackers, chips, dried fruit, popcorn, trail mix, Chex, grapes, Pirate Booty, veggie straws...the possibilities are endless! I've never tried cut strawberries or anything like that, but I have a feeling those would stain. Just worth noting if that matters to you.
These are NOT air tight. Don't expect to be able to pack snacks and leave them in there for 3 weeks w/o them going stale. They do a fine job of keeping things fresh for a day or two, but this isn't something you could put in the back of a desk drawer and forget about.
I also use these to pack toys for restaurants, car trips, plane rides, etc. The kids can pack any toys they want that will fit inside, and everything stays together! They're also great for holding crayons or markers. You could even keep pet treats inside.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these. They're fun and bright. They reduce waste significantly (I've cut my plastic baggie usage by about 95%). I've had a few of these for about 2 years, and they work as well as they did the first day. If you're thinking about getting some of these, go for it!
I like these reusable snack bags by Ymmi Pouch. I purchased the "Flashy" colored set and the colors are prints are adorable and vibrant. I use these daily for my son, my bf, and my lunches. We put everything from crackers, dried mango, munchkins, popcorn, and the like in them and they have held up really well to daily use for two months now (purchased Aug 2017 reviewed Oct 2017).
They aren't 100% waterproof, but I wasn't really expecting them to be. I know they say the fabric is, but when you wash it in the sink (as I always do by hand with Dawn) and you fill it with water you will see some drip out of the corners....but I would never fill them with juice or something and send my son off to school with it, so I'm not really worried that they are only 95% waterproof. But if that is a concern for someone, you may want to note that they aren't completely waterproof.
Another thing to note is that because the bags are breathable I have found crackers and chips have gone stale over the weekend if one of us doesn't eat them on Friday and the same snack gets packed on Monday.
I also own a set of the Bumkins snack baggies which I do like more than this set of 3 Yummi pouches, but these are slightly less expensive and come in a set of 3 vs the set of 2 that Bumkins offers so I am still happy with my purchase.
My bf left food in one bag (which of course was the cute cars bag!) for a bit too long and the food grew mold which transferred and started growing in the bag. To my pleasant surprise, I was able to spray bleach inside let it sit and give a quick scrub two or three times over the course of a week or two and get the mold stains out.
If you aren't sure if you are going to be able to finish your snack in a day but you want to be environmentally friendly, I would recommend getting a sealed container. If not, these will work just fine for people who clean them out frequently. These are also very easy to clean.
