I've been hesitant to review this book as I know some of the authors well enough to know that their writing and thoughts are fabulous. However, with two editors on this book, you'd think there would have been some actual editing done. This is a book that is essentially a collection of first-draft blog posts. Each "article" by the various experts talks about cloud security in a way that varies from brilliant to mind-numbingly incoherent. Editing is more than just running a spell check, you need to make sure that the various authors' works can be strung together to form a theme throughout the book. Further, each "article" needs to contain a complete thought. Many ramble on for a long time with too many subsections containing a sentence or two without ever completing a thought. Many "articles" end suddenly without ever giving you a feeling about what their point was. My comments on editing are more than just concerns about grammar and style (of which there are many problems that contribute to a lack of clear, understandable writing). It is also about those macro editing issues that will keep this book from receiving the recognition that it deserves. I understand that there is a revision of this book being done for a release later this year, and I hope that there is better emphasis put on editing in the next edition.

The Cloud Security Rules explains the different aspects of cloud security to business leaders, CxO's, IT-managers and decision makers. The security principles are the same as before while the implementation and the risks involved are dramatically changed. The book is co-authored by some of the most recognized security specialists and bloggers in the world. The authors are gathered from USA, Europe and Africa, sharing their great knowledge of implementing and securing the cloud. This book is made to help it easier for you to choose the right cloud supplier as well as setting up and running your critical services in the cloud. Questions you will find answers about include: - Do I have to accept that standard SLA? - What should an SLA include? - What standards should I be paying attention to, if any? - How do I treat mobile workers, and how do they fit into the cloud? - Do I really need to care about logging? - Many more! Since the cloud computing is global, you risk using service providers in other countries than your own - even if you only operate in your own country. The Cloud Security Rules aims at helping you understand the risks involved, and help you determine the best strategy for your organization.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

To set the expectations right from the start - this book is not a step by step guide on how to migrate your business to the cloud, it doesn't contain recipes how to get things right, but it is not a FUD list either. It is in fact an awesome mind-map for those that are interested in using cloud environments for fun or for profit - things you should really look into, consider pros and cons... and keep in mind once you are 'in the cloud'.
Chapters cover variety of topics and are written by some of the best people in their respective areas. The book speaks in many voices but all of them lead to one conclusion - think, evaluate in your local context, build your own "cloud recipe".
Cloud is here, right now! Get over it, adapt or fail.

As another reviewer said this is not a one size fits all solution book to address the jump to cloud land. Your approach has to be customised depending on the business and it's function. It will surely help out in the deciding phase and simplifying the pros and cons balancing. The various authors in this book are some of the most well known in the industry and i'm positive that what they wrote in the book is based on past personal experience. Very valuable read for those who are thinking of making the jump to cloud!
