From the Back Cover

When you lose a loved one, whether it's a close friend, favorite relation, or precious pet, you wonder where that special soul has gone and if you will ever see him or her again. For Dulcie Mills, Long Island computer programmer, the answer may lie between a virtual world and the real one, between the past and the present, between dreams and reality.

Unable to get over her fiancée's death and facing the impending loss of her 15 year old cat, Dulcie escapes to a virtual world. When Dulcie's best friend accepts a job from a clairvoyant who offers predictions regarding Dulcie's dead fiancée and Dulcie becomes attracted to an online stranger, history begins to repeat itself in ways that are both promising yet terrifying. What Dulcie discovers through a virtual séance may mean the only chance she has left for love or death itself.

Cloudy Rainbow is told in five parts, one for each of the main characters, and spans 16 years in a non-linear sequence. Starting in Part One several months before the ending in Part Five, the plot then follows the main character through her college days to her mid-thirties, from her first true love experienced during the early years of the Internet up to the current explosion of virtual worlds and a tragic loss that she is given a unique chance to redeem. Addressing topics of reincarnation and soul transfer in similar ways as Greg Iles' "Sleep No More" and Nora Roberts' "Midnight Bayou," De Louise's debut novel, Cloudy Rainbow, features an interesting mix of technology and the paranormal and will also appeal to cat lovers.

My latest release is THE CASE OF THE PARROT LOVING PROFESSOR: Book 2 of my Buttercup Bend cozy mystery series.

My name is Debbie De Louise. I'm a reference librarian at a public library on Long Island and the award-winning author of the Cobble Cove cozy mystery series that consists of 6 books. I've also published six other standalone novels and a non-fiction cat book. All my books are available on Amazon in paperback and as eBooks and are part of the Kindle Unlimited program. A few are also in large print, hardcover, and audio. My psychological thriller, SEA SCOPE, is also in Spanish. I have a B.A. in English and an MLS in Library Science.

My first novel, a paranormal romance, CLOUDY RAINBOW, was written after my beloved cat, Floppy, died from diabetic and liver complications. The book was dedicated to him, and he is featured as a character in it. CLOUDY RAINBOW was reprinted by my publisher with fresh edits, a new cover, and a few updates.

My second novel, the first book of the Cobble Cove mystery series, A STONE'S THROW, is the story of a widowed librarian who visits her husband's hometown and finds a new love with the town's newspaper publisher but also discovers some alarming truths about her husband's death and its connection to the publisher and his family. Along with a variety of characters, there is also a cat and dog who play minor but interesting roles in the novel. The other books in my Cobble Cove series include BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE, WRITTEN IN STONE, LOVE ON THE ROCKS, and NO GRAVESTONE UNTURNED.

The Cobble Cove Stories, available as eBooks, include CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH MY CHARACTERS, SNEAKY'S CHRISTMAS MYSTERY (winner of the 2020 Cat Writers' Association's Muse Medallion award), SNEAKY'S SUMMER MYSTERY, and KITTYKAI'S EASTER MYSTERY. These stories are included in a print edition along with a new story. The collection is called SNEAKY'S SUPERNATURAL MYSTERY AND OTHER COBBLE COVE STORIES.

My new cozy mystery series, The Buttercup Bend cozy mysteries, feature Cathy Carter who co-owns a pet rescue and animal cemetery in the small town of Buttercup Bend in the Catskills. In addition to her pet business, Cathy is also a photographer for the town's newspaper, THE BUTTERCUP BUGLE. Cathy's first adventure is in THE CASE OF THE CAT CRAZY LADY.

I've also published a romantic comedy novella, WHEN JACK TRUMPS ACE and three standalone mysteries, REASON TO DIE, SEA SCOPE, and MEMORY MAKERS. I've also written a time-travel novel, TIME'S RELATIVE. My non-fiction cat book, PET POSTS: THE CAT CHATS, features full-color photos of my cats and is told from the cats' points of view about feline health and behavior issues. This book was reprinted by Next Chapter with a new cover under the title MEMORIES AND MEOWS.

I'm a member of International Thriller Writers, Sisters-in-Crime, the Cat Writers' Association, and Long Island Authors Group and have published articles in Cats Magazine and Catnip (Tufts University Veterinary Newsletter). I won the Glamour Puss special award from Hartz Corporation for my Catster.com article, "Brushing your cat for bonding, beauty, and better health," (June, 2016). My short mystery, "Stitches in Time" was published in the CAT CRIMES THROUGH TIME Anthology, (1999). I've published several other short stories of various genres in the RED PENGUIN COLLECTION of anthologies and have also been published in Red Penguin’s BLOOM LITERARY MAGAZINE. My poems are featured in the NASSAU COUNTY VOICES IN VERSE 2020 and 2022 anthology and the 2020 BARDS ANNUAL. I live on Long Island with my husband, Anthony; daughter, Holly; and our cats, Harry, and Hermione.
