From the Author
We get a lot of questions about the process that we followfor collaborative writing. Here's a brief taster of how Clovenhoof was created:
- We spent some time batting ideas back and forth via email untilwe had the high level "idea" for our novel.
- We developed our main cast of characters in a lot of detailbefore we did anything else. We wrote some test pieces to bring them to life, andwe talked about what they might look like.
- We collected chapter ideas. Lots and lots of ideas. Then wegrouped them into "themes" that we thought could work together. Weworked out a framework for the chapters we wanted.
- Nearly time to write! So we worked through the chapters likethis - Heide plotted a chapter for Iain to write while Iain plotted a chapterfor Heide to write. Then we wrote those chapters, and swapped back to the otherperson to do an edit. This helped to smooth out any stylistic differences.
