My solution was the Clover Point Covers (petite size). They're designed to cover knitting needles but work perfectly to cover seam rippers, stilettos and small embroidery scissors with sharp points. In fact, I don't know why Clover doesn't include one with the seam ripper or at the very least, recommend their point covers on the packaging.
So, great seam ripper but minus one star for for the necessity of looking for other options to cover the point.
The major disadvantage of this Clover seam ripper is that the sharpness of the blade became dull within a few month's use. I solely used this ripper to cut through thin and regular-duty cotton and polyester threads. I fully expected this seam ripper to exceed the quality of one that might be included in a cheap sewing accessory set. Unfortunately, in this case, paying a few dollars more doesn't guarantee lasting quality.
