I gound that the purple marks from this pen doesn't come off with steam from an iron which would be faster and more efficient for me personally, but the "eraser" end works very well, as well as just some water on the fingertips. I mostly work with dark materials and wax tailors chalk, which is why I'm used to steaming my marks off, but this is an affordable and near perfect solution for those rare occasions that I need to use light fabrics. The reason I purchased this product is because I trust the brand Clover for basic sewing needs, and they still haven't let me down. I will definitely be repurchasing when the time comes.

I dont think this will work very well for dark fabrics, though, and for that, I still recommend supwr-glide wax tailors chalk, from Carmel.

Always do a test in an inconspicuous place, no matter what marking medium, when working with a new fabric.

The pen is great. The eraser is great. The problem is that the heat in my apartment makes the ink disappear very very quickly. The wrapper says up to 14 days and I’m lucky if it sticks 30 minutes. Not sure if it’s my wrong doing. It does work though so 3 stars

My go-to marking pen for fabric

I used this both on vinyl and on woven cotton upholstery fabric. The line goes on light in color, but for my purposes I rant the line over several times to make it dark. The fabric color that I used it on was a multi tonal grey and blue. It lasted for about 2 hours then began to fade. By the time 3 or 4 hours went by, i couldn't see any remnant of the mark. It was perfect for marking then sewing and not worrying about having a residual marker line. When I accidentally put a mark in the wrong place, I used the eraser portion of the pen and it immediately started to disappear. This will definitely be my go-to pen for marking fabrics.

Easy in theory but mine seems dry

Mine struggles to write on different fabrics even cotton. It catches and doesn't write much compared to the Thick version I also bought that doesn't have the eraser which writes/flows over ANYTHING. So I pretty much just use this for the eraser end unfortunately. I know they can work I just got a bad one and the thick one is actually a preferred line thickness to me anyway.

Doesn't show up on dark fabric and fades VERY quickly (even the thick does most of the time)

The eraser of the marker SAVED my garments, erasing markings that wouldn’t wash aware

I had used a white transfer paper sheet to mark the exact emplacement of embroidery patterns on dark garments.
I liked that the markings from that sheet were very clear, easy to see.
However, the markings from that particular sheet would not wash away in water!!
I had never faced such a situation with any transfer sheet before.
I realized the problem after washing the embroidered garments in cold water and liquid Woolite.
After letting them dry at room temperature, I tried different things to get rid of the marks.
I tried rubbing the marks off. Didn’t work.
I tried rubbing some Woolite liquid laundry soap directly on the marks and washing again. Didn’t work.
Tried some Spray & Wash stick followed by another wash in cold water and Woolite. Didn’t work.
I was getting out of my wits. The markings looked permanent! I couldn’t face wasting all those garments and going through that work all over again (many days of work).
That’s when I thought of THIS marker. I seldom used it because the purple end was very fine, too fine for most of my needs. But what about the eraser… could it help?
The eraser was still wet and felt as good as new.
I tried the eraser on the dry “stained” markings . Magic happened!! The marks disappeared with little effort.
This small MARKER SAVED my GARMENTS and my WORK!!
I quickly ordered 3 more as emergency marking erasers and trashed the problem transfer paper sheet.
These markers are an absolute must in a case such as this one.
I won’t soon forget: I will always test the markings of my transfer sheets on a hidden part of garments (I will check if they wash away).
