I heard a lot of positives about the Clover bodkin. However, after using it, I’m a bit disappointed. It may work with lighter cottons and silks. However, because the grip doesn’t have a lot of hold, it doesn’t work well when turning heavier weight of fabrics, e.g., plushes, fleece and faux fur. Another concern is durability. It is thin plastic. It has the potential for breaking. It is easy to use in that the white lever clicks down, thereby engaging the teeth. Nonetheless, I’m thinking that I may opt for a metal bobkin.

I love the clamp that holds the elastic for threading, but it’s very wide and thick. I got 5/8” elastic through a space which originally held 1” elastic, but with great difficulty getting past the side seams, because of the seam allowances inside the tube. (Why the band was 3 pieces of fabric joined I have no clue!). I was determined not to remove and replace the waistband! I wiggled and yanked the threader until it went, but it was tough. It zoomed through the rest of the waistband, but instead of the 2 minutes I expected it was close to 30 minutes and the air was blue around me. I’m still happy with the product.
