Wow! I just saw that 11,873 people have reviewed this fine film. That really has surprised me.
SPOILER ALERT!
I remember playing this game as a kid with Mom. It's still somewhere in the house in a closet somewhere or perhaps the attic. But it is a fantastic film and was adapted so well by the screenwriters. I especially liked how the writers added a few new characters in order to move along the plot. It worked so well.
I have just started viewing certain randomly selected DVDs that I see after every cycle of genres I view. Dr. Who, 1980's/1990's TV shows that were taped from television and the Star Trek franchise. Well, Clue was the second DVD I viewed. I got the DVD from Amazon back on 16 October 2015. Although I had not seen this DVD, I do remember renting it on tape from Potomac Video decades ago. I just don't remember when. And when I saw this DVD, I did not recall any of the exact scenes and situations. All I remember was the gorgeous BTC in the French maid outfit and the group of characters running from room to room. I did not remember the man who played Mr. Body nor the African American cop nor the singing telegram girl.
There are three alternate endings and I saw only a randomized one. This was the one where Miss Scarlet killed them all. What a great film. Tim Curry, JT. Walsh, Madeline Kahn and Christopher Lloyd knock it all out of the ballpark. Four and Half Stars. Buy this DVD and you won't be disappointed. I'm the 11,874th person to review this fine film.

The movie is excellent. One of my favorites ❤️. Would have given 5 stars but the case was broken at delivery. Also, the menu screen at the beginning of movie looks cheap and sloppy pixels were off. Don't know if deliberate or not but restof moviewas good.

Wow, if you’ve never seen this movie and enjoy physical and kinda cheesy comedy, YOU MUST SEE THIS. Actually, even if you don’t enjoy physical and kinda cheesy comedy, YOU MUST SEE THIS. The cast is amazing; their timing is superb, and you’ll have to watch it at least twice to catch all the jokes. I love the three endings; all seem pretty plausible.

I love this movie! Although I was not alive when this movie came out, I remember the first time I watched it on tv. I will never get tired of this movie and Tim Curry is outstanding :)

I first saw this movie as a kid in the 80s, and watching it again 30 years later it hasn’t gotten old! The actors are so perfectly over-the-top. A lot of great one-liners. It’s silly fun even if you never played the board game!

I've had this movie for over a decade and purchased this to replace the old disc due to damage. An absolutely terrific movie with a perfectly filled cast. My family's "go-to watch" movie with plenty of memorable quotes and great comedy that continues to make me laugh even to today. If you haven't seen it, I absolutely recommend you buy it and give it a watch! 10/10

One of the rare gems from Hollywood that isn't NSFW. Audiences of all ages can appreciate this movie's humor. There are jokes for children (although it helps if they have played the game), teens, and adults. Tim Curry's unique delivery is on full display. While some of the jokes are dated, the movie as a whole still lands. Well worth the rental or purchase price.

Fun Murder Mystery Spoof - DVD Includes Three Different Surprise Endings
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on January 31, 2019
This is a really well made and highly entertaining 1980s spoof of a murder mystery featuring the characters from the popular board game Clue/Cluedo. The sets are beautiful, the mansion where the action takes place is suitably gothic and the cast is fantastic. Tim Curry as butler is particularly memorable, as is the incomparable Madeline Kahn. Oh, and everybody else.
It's huge fun to see Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren) and Mrs Peacock (Eileen Brennan) and Mrs White (Madeline Kahn) and Mr Green (Michael McKean) and Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull) and Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd) come to life on the screen. The manic dialogue is expertly delivered by the actors, accompanied by just the right kind of music. The whole thing is absolutely hilarious. And the film has aged remarkably well. It's as watchable now as it was when first released thirty years ago. Highly recommended for both aficionadoes of the game and those who've never heard of it. Great film to keep the entire family entertained on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
The DVD is excellent, both picture and sound are very clear, and that includes the quick fire dialogue of the finale every word of which is easily understandable. English subtitles for the hard of hearing are available. Three different surprise endings were produced so as to keep audiences guessing right up to the end who is the murderer. All three endings are featured on the DVD. Also included is a trailer.

CLUE DVD
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on July 13, 2022
Let's face it...This is a film you will either enjoy, or it will irritate the whatsits out of you. A terrific ensemble cast of the period - Kahn/Brennan/Curry (these 2 dominate and save the script - just), Lloyd/ Martin Mull (dull here and so good in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch"). Lesley Ann Warren and Colleen Camp are in competion to see whose breasts will fall ot of their cossies first (Spoiler - Neither, but it is a close run contest). The script (by Jonathon Lynn - "Yes Minister"), has some good one liners and the actors all deliver like the pros they are/were. Sadly the film completely disintigrates as the denoument(s) approach. Farcical yelling, running room to room, and, worse, constant repetition. A great film nearly there. Many will enjoy - I fast forwarded - and why THREE endings??? Not Lynn's finest hour. However it is cheap and has star appeal.

A cult classic - one of my guilty pleasures
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on November 27, 2016
I love this film, I have seen it so many times. Eileen Brennan steals any scene that she is in of course, but then that's half the joy of this clever and fast-paced comedy. There isn't a bad bit of acting in the film, it's all done in quite a hammy way, but that's its charm.
The film is very very loosely based on the 'Cluedo' board game, but only in the sense of having a murder take place and a group of house guests have to deduce who dunnit with what weapon and in what room. The multiple endings are a must and are an essential part of the overall viewing experience of this film - which is partly why I wanted to have it on DVD instead of catch the rare occasional viewing on TV, as you can't be guaranteed of getting the string of alternate endings on TV.
Saying that, the DVD allows you to choose whether you want to play all the endings in sequence, or have it select one at random - which is a nice touch, but as I say, I think half the fun is getting to see all of them.
You owe it to yourself to see this cult classic.

Simply an underappreciated classic

Based on the board game, Clue gathers a group of strangers in a large Manor house when bodies start to drop.
Am I maybe seeing this movie with a slab of nostalgia? Absolutely but that doesn't take away from how brilliantly the film is written and performed.
Each character is wonderfully performed with the stand out being Tim Curry himself. A very funny and brilliantly paced farce. Definitely would recommend.
And this DVD has all 3 endings, including an option to pick one at random.
Definitely worth watching.

"Why is J. Edgar Hoover on your phone?" - "I don't know, he's on everybody elses, why shouldn't he be on mine?!"

The title just about sums the movie up - a riotous laugh from start to finish - what could have been a standard made -or-the-screen version of a popular board game is a laugh-a-minute gag fest which draws you in to its web of deceit and murder and just when you think you have worked out who the murderer is, it throws you a curve ball and you are back to square one.
The film starts out with the arrival of a number of guests invited to a mysterious dinner party in a large country house - none of them have ever met each other, but all have a dark secret which they would prefer to keep hidden. Soon bodies start turning up all over the house and the guests realise, there is a killer among them. Under the unwilling lead of the butler Wadsworth, played by Tim Curry in what has to be one of his best comic roles, they search the house from top to bottom all the while trying the evade the killer.
This is a film which you simply don't want to end and when it does you have three possible outcomes, each of which is both plausible and wonderfully funny at the same time.
If you have seen this movie and enjoyed it, good on you - if you haven't, what are you waiting for?
