Product Description
Clueless (DVD) Jane Austen might never have imagined that her 1816 novel Emma could be turned into a fresh and satirical look at ultra-rich teenage rs in a Bev erly Hills high school. Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Das h), both named after "great singers of the past t hat now do infomercial s," are pampered upper-class girls who care less about getting good grad es than wearing the right clothes and being as popular as possible. But Cher, who lives with her tough yet warm-hearted lawyer dad (Dan Hedaya) and hunky, sensitive stepb rother (Paul Rudd), also has an innate urge t o help those less fortunate — like the two introverted teachers she brin gs together ("n egotiating" herself improved grades in the process) and new friend Tai (Brittany Murphy), who starts out a geek and ends up a Ch er p rodigy. Cher also possesses her own sensitive side, and she is look ing for the perfect boyfriend, whom she ends up finding where she least expected.

The movie is basically set around the life of pampered rich girl Cher (played by Silvertone) who can argue anything to get what she wants, as taught to her by her lawyer father (played by Hedaya). In her high school, she is the leader of a group of girls just as vain and clueless as she is, including her best friend Dionne (played by Dash). Brittany Murphy plays Tai, a new student at the school whom Cher takes on as her charity case to make her over into one of the groups. When Tai's personality changes Cher then sees firsthand how she treats people and ultimately learns to grow up. The other big plot revolves around Cher's love life. She tries to make out with her school crush and is surprisingly rebuffed, and then falls for Rudd's character, which is a bit creepy given that he is her stepbrother.
For those who get the Whatever! edition of the DVD, the extras include the trailers, a bunch of behind-the-scenes featurettes (seven in all ranging from about three minutes to almost twenty minutes), and then a bunch of previews for other movies. So, if you like bonus material, you get a good amount here.
Overall, the movie is a classic. It is very funny and has some dramatic moments. Yes, the thought of Cher and Josh becoming a thing is a bit creepy and is probably not something that would be added to the storyline if it was made today, but it was not the focus of the movie by any means. Of course, the various actors have gone on to have wildly varied careers since Clueless with Silverstone basically having retired from acting, Rudd making blockbuster movies (and hardly aging), and Murphy having tragically passed away after her career hitting a bit of a slump. It would be nice if they make a 20th-anniversary Blu-Ray within the next couple of years and get the cast together to do a commentary track and new cast interviews. Who knows whether that will actually happen, but for now, this is a great version of the movie (there is a Blu-Ray upgrade of this set floating around out there), and it is definitely worth watching.
Which is fine for me because I never bought Clueless on BR or DVD before. The yellow plaid school uniform steelbook is nice though. So really I'd give it 4.5 stars if that were possible.
Alcicia Silverstone ( of Batman and Robin fame) really steels the screen in this role and you can tell she’s going to take Hollywood by storm.
The run time is 97 minutes which feels like a misfire when it should have been 120 minutes.
Normally I’d give this 5 bags of popcorn but Paul Rudd is clearly much older than her and that’s kinda gross and nothing we should celebrate, so I’d give it 4 bags of popcorn, however he does such a good job in his role and is quite the charming nice guy with a heart of gold. He realy reminded me of us movie buffs who just want to find love with a nice girl so I gotta award another bag of popcorn.
The final rating for Clueless is 5 bags of popcorn, 5 sodas, and I’ll toss in the yellow murder envelope that is a must for anyone playing Clue, for which this movie is a sequel to the original Clue 1 starring Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd and directed by Jonathan Lynn.

2. trama molto semplice ma efficace nell'insegnare (e ricordare) facendo divertire (molto!);
3. il film é molto divertente dal primo all'ultimo fotogramma;
4. la regista é molto brava e gli attori recitano tutti molto bene; Alicia Silverstone é perfetta nel ruolo;
5. vi sono molte frasi direi quasi celebri da ricordare;
6. la fotografia é molto bella, come quasi sempre é solo nei film americani;
7. anche i costumi degli attori sono molto interessanti;
Alicia Silverstone plays Cher, a Beverly Hills high schooler who lives in luxury and doesn't have sharp eyes for consequence, but is a charming girl whose shallowness hides intelligence. Her best friend is Dionne (Stacey Dash), and together they "adopt" a socially clueless classmate, Tai (the late Brittany Murphy), to turn her into a popular girl. This charitable endeavour is inspired by Cher's newfound matchmaking abilities, though she doesn't seem to realise a budding affection in her own life, between herself and her idealistic ex-stepbrother, Josh (Paul Rudd).
Silverstone is perfect as Cher because she manages to balance adorability with silliness. Cher's a sheltered rich girl, but she's sweet and clever in a way which a lot of similar characters from other teen films aren't. Her dad (Dan Hedaya) is a gruff but deeply caring man and Josh is capably played by Rudd, who's made a career playing flawed nice guys. Murphy was a gifted comic actress, so watching her, in the light of her death, is somewhat bittersweet. Breckin Meyer plays a kind stoner, and Jeremy Sisto a popular boy. Donald Faison, best known as Dr. Chris Turk on Scrubs, plays a similar but broader character here; he's Dionne's boyfriend. Noted actor and playwright Wallace Shawn shows up as a lonely teacher, and is typically great.
Plenty of delightful romantic confusions keep Clueless rolling, like Cher's doomed "seduction" of a handsome classmate (Justin Walker). The script is packed with dialogue much subtler and funnier than it needs to be, as when Cher says: "Isn't my house classic? The columns date all the way back to 1972." At its core Clueless is a gentle satire of 90s teenage culture, just as Emma was a satire of early 19th-century middle-class culture. It's featherlight almost to a fault and doesn't care about drama so much as funny lines spoken by nice people. Sometimes that's all I want from a film. There's a great, unspoken misunderstanding that romantic comedies need to be stupid. Clueless, which is smarter than a new pin, proves that notion wrong.
