About the Author

Drew Elyse spends her days trying to convince the world that she is, in fact, a Disney Princess, and her nights writing tear-jerking and smutty romance novels. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found over-analyzing every line of a book, binge watching a series on Netflix, doing strange vocal warm ups before singing a variety of music styles, or screaming at the TV during a Chicago Blackhawks game. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a BA in English, she still lives in Chicago, IL where she was born and raised with her boyfriend and her fur babies Lola and Duncan.

Overall Opinion: The first 2/3 of this had major potential, but I felt like that potential was lost in the final 1/3. I really enjoyed that first part, but the ending left me feeling conflicted and disappointed. It seemed like there were some major conflicts going on and the resolution for the conflicts was just too easy for me. They had a (somewhat) fight and separated, but then came back together and everything was perfectly lined up for their HEA. I think the author had some good ideas and the premise was good and had potential, but I felt like we needed to make the troubles a little more troubling (if that makes sense).

Storyline: This is Cami and Gauge's story. They meet when Gauge comes with Cami's dad to visit Cami where she lives with her fiancé. Her fiancé is super controlling, and has made her into the perfect stepford wife and not the biker's daughter she is. The sparks fly between Gauge and Cami and he not so delicately tells her that she deserves better than her fiancé. They start a text and calling relationship and eventually Cami leaves her fiancé and starts a relationship with Gauge. They have some sexy times, some ex drama, and eventually they find their HEA.

POV: This alternated between Cami and Gauge's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. There were no times where I was skimming, and no instalove.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Gauge. He was a hot, alpha biker that sometimes said things before thinking. I did like how he apologized when he was wrong though.

h rating: 3 stars. Cami. I was confused as to why she stayed with her fiancé for so long as a doormat and then threw all sorts of sass at Gauge...she was just ok.

Sadness level: Low/moderate.

4.5 stars for me
I took a chance when I once clicked this book since this is a new author and few reviews had been done on the book. I was totally impressed with this author's writing and the quality of the book. The characters are engaging and the story line hooked me from the first page. I loved the relationship Cami has with her father, Tank. Gauge is the type of hero I love, strong, possessive, a definite alpha and loyal. I definitely will be reading the next book in this series and hope that it will be as good as this one.

Clutch by Drew Elyse is the first book in The Disciples' Daughters Series. Cami grew up in the MC world where her dad was part of it. Her mom died when she was little. Cami decides she needs to experience the world so she goes off to college. She meets Nathaniel or Natey-boy. Over time she has become someone she really doesn't recognize. It is only when her dad visits and brings along a brother, Gauge, that she realizes that she doesn't want this life. Gauge calls Natey-boy out several times over dinner and just wants to grab Cami and leave. He can see she is not happy and the way she looks at him turns him on.

After several months of calls and flirty texts with Gauge, Cami is missing her old life. When Nathaniel comes home late and berates her for what she has on, she knows that this is it. She is leaving him, and the first person she calls is Gauge. But going back to the MC world is not as easy as Cami expected especially where Gauge is concerned. I loved how she would stand up to him and he didn't know how to handle a woman like Cami. She was better than the club whores but he knew it would take time to make her his old lady. What he didn't count on was Stacey coming back in his life. Cami and Gauge have to work through things that just seem impossible to make it through. Add on that the compound is being "watched" this just adds to the stress.

I loved this book and can't wait to read more. I would recommend this book.

I can say this book wasn't good but it was bad. Not poke your eye out bad but s*** what a waste of your money. If this book ever comes up for free and your "fire, tv, phone and everyone you know is out of town, go ahead and read this book, other then that pass this book up. Shirley

Clutch by Drew Elyse is a motorcycle club book. It is the first book in the Disciples Daughters series.

Camille has been around the club all her life. It’s all she’s ever know, until she went to college and met the man she thought was her future. Cami completely changed for Nate and now was no longer the girl she used to be. But a visit from her dad brings a new stranger into her life, Gauge. It’s Gauge that gives Cami the strength to leave a life she is no longer happy in to go back to a life she loves, with people that love her. Cami soon realizes who she is and who she is meant to be with, but a regret from the past shows up trying to take over Cami and Gauge’s happy ever after.

This book isn’t like most MC books. I am a huge fan of MC books, but they all have several of the same principles. I loved that in this book the MC didn’t deal or sell drugs or guns. They still have the club girls as well as the bad ass appearance. I got the feeling that this club is more family first, while some MC books are that way, not all are. There is a part of this book that really hit home for me. I can’t come out and say it, because it will give it away, but I empathized with Cami. I know the feeling to want something but never being able to actually have it. I think Drew did a great job of bringing those feeling through in the book. I only have one reason for not giving this book 5 stars. I found it to be predictable. Otherwise the story is very well written and I enjoyed reading it.
