K.A. Poe's passions have always been writing and reading, escaping reality and starting adventures in worlds beyond the mundane familiarity of Earth. Full of imagination, creativity and wonderment, K.A. Poe almost always has a fresh idea in mind for a new tale to tell. When she isn't reading or writing she can be found playing video games or designing in Photoshop. She is a hoarder of colorful socks and admirer of squirrels and penguins (and by "admirer", this clearly means she squeals at the mere sight of either animal).
She resides in Indiana with her husband and daughter. Accompanying the trio is K.A. Poe's writing assistant Aries (who happens to be a cat and doesn't do much in the way of assisting or writing, unless you consider sleeping on the keyboard helpful... ) and their two other furry companions - Lyra and Gemini. --This text refers to the paperback edition.

The story itself is captivating, the writing ........... not so much. Spelling, punctuation, word usage and grammar are important to writing good books. All of those things were overlooked in this series. I could have ignored the weaknesses of bad writing, in favor of the story itself but when all was said and done, I knew I wouldn't read the series again because I don't care for sex and bad language in my library.

I have to say that I adored this series, I couldnt get enough of each book and was left feeling desperate for the next installment.
So when I started this book, all was well, infact it was going well up until say the last 8th of the book at which point I started to think to myself, 'really?!?!? you cant be serious!'. My lack of understanding with where the book was going started to turn into frustration and then outright disgust.
Considering how many lives has been lost throughout the books, why not another one?!?! Silas was never meant to live throughout all of the books, it was always destined that he would be killed, so for him to have a happy ending, not only does it feel cheesy but I also feel let down as a reader. It feels like a desperate happy ending that is neither deserved nor fitting.
You additionally have the war of all wars and then nothing more is really mentioned about it, it seems as though all the terror, lives lost, and destruction is simply forgotten. It did seem abit like 'oh well, the war is 'over', lets move on swiftly', despite the fact that there should still be a divide between the clans, the undead, quite a the literal mess of a city, etc.
Madison still struggles with her feelings between Mathias and Alan, at times I felt like I wanted to literally wanted to shake her. I get teenage angst and feelings but the continual will they, wont they seemed to be taken to a new level. Madison seems able to verbalise how she feels when shes shouting at people but being able to speak to the individuals concerned on a one to one level about her feelings doesnt come so easily. Im disappointed that someone who is so open and honest about who she is, what she is and what she needs to do, that she doesnt seem to be honest with herself, or the guys who clearly adore her.
In essense I wanted to love this book ,like really really wanted to love this book but sadly there were too many holes in the story (or potential openings for other series). Worse than the holes in the story was the disgusting happy ending that everyone got, it just didnt make sense.
