Utility Beam Optic
Comprised of multiple individual light beams that overlap to create a broad, less defined light area that is brighter in the center and diffuses at the edges. A very good general use, all-purpose beam.
Hinged Beam Adjustment
All Coast headlamps include a hinged, tilting head to let you adjust the direction of the light beam.
This headlamp includes clips for hardhat compatibility.

Top customer reviews
The lights are power hungry but are also super bright. The dimming switch really helps extend the battery life not to mention cuts the harsh glare from High with new batteries. I get about a day and a half of intermittent (probably 50-60% on time) use on alkaline batteries. I use rechargeable Panasonic Eneloop NiMH batteries in mine and get at least one whole day of typical use before the batteries are running low.
For anyone who works where they need supplemental light (plumbers, car mechanics, DIYers, etc.) I would highly recommend this line of lights. I got the non-focusing light at first and moved up to the focusing light where I can dial it down to a spot for detail work and out to widespread light for just general additional light.
switch problem I go to attic or crew space for work takin my tools with me to dark places then lights turns off itself turning on then in 2 second goes off, its really bad product ,if you have this one make sure you take other light with you because you can't depend on this light
I use it for hiking, camping and around the house projects, none of which are strenuous, so I don't need a cross strap over the top of the head. Be aware that if you want to use it for running or other jolting actions, you may be better off looking for a model with a cross strap.
==== THE GOOD ====
Super comfortable, lightweight, well balanced. Super bright 285 lumens. Focusing AND dimmer mechanisms work great, giving me exactly the right amount of light in the right size. Swivel mechanism on mine is still tight after 2 years. Other than the 2 cons listed below, this light is all goodness! I love mine.
==== THE BAD ====
For my use, i consider the power switch a solid CON. It's big and easy to hit, which some people like for use with thick winter gloves. HOWEVER, I have repeatedly had this light get inadvertently turned on in my backpack or travel bag, and arrive with dead batteries. I have to take out the batteries in between uses, because there's no lockout button or other means of protecting it. BIG drawback for me.
LED tech on this particular light is a little dated compared to some newer, more efficient LED components available. Result is that this light, although very bright, has a habit of sucking down batteries a little faster than I would like and than the current technology "could" allow for I use rechargeables (which of course, have even less power in them) and always have a spare set or two on hand.
==== THE BOTTOM LINE ====
For its low thirties price point, this is a good lamp, and distinguishes itself from the more expensive fourty something LED Lenser H7.2. For the price, I don't think anything else can compare. I thought about buying the H7.2, but getting into the high fourties, low fifties, there's lots of quality headlamp options. Here at thirty bucks, this one is positioned to be a winner! If that's your budget, get it, you'll be happy. Just be careful that your light doesn't turn on inside your back!
