But here is the catch, for urban style living it is not a very bad choice. This Sofa bed is sitting in my living room working as my Sofa. Unless I have a guest and I need to prepare bed for them. It fit's pretty well in my tiny apartment. I saw tons of complain about the durability of the product. It does not feel cheap to me and certainly I have no issue with the build quality. However, I bought a amazon provided warranty with this Sofa; just for the mental peace. I would definitely recommend it for urban style living. if you have enough space for a bed and a sofa, then I would definitely not recommend it.
I can say that it looks great for the price, very modern type of design.
It worked well as my bed for six months. I put a thick mattress pad on top because you'll fall into the center if you don't.
It's easy to lift up and lay flat.
It was a nice starter couch for apartment living, and I will miss it.
This is great for the price. It is a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be. I wouldnt want this for every day sleep, but for occasional sleep/naps, guest accommodation, or using as a couch with the added functionality of lying out; it is perfect. It is very firm, but not necessarily in a bad way.
Since it is one big piece, it can be a bit difficult to get around tight corners. Luckily, since it isnt too long, the legs can be removed, it lays flatter and is lighter than a standard spring mattress; it isnt too much of an issue.
Probably the biggest con I can think of is the frame. The way it is designed, when it is unfolded, the always-down part is slightly higher than the folding part. This is why some of the reviews complain about the metal bar in the middle of their back. If you try to sleep parallel to the futon and dead center, that metal bar will indeed wreak havoc. The trick is to sleep diagonal and not dead center; this is a one-person futon.
Finally, the "Arm Rests" are a joke. Just pretend they dont exist and everything is peachy. They are basically really firm side pillows with very harsh angles (essentially perfectly square). They dont attach in any way (no velcro or anything), so they can and will fall off during casual usage of the futon. I stack them up and use them as a ghetto-rigged foot rest.
NOTE: If you are looking for the feet and side pillows, they are in a hidy hole on the bottom of the futon. It took me 15 minutes of anger over thinking I had been cheated to figure that out...
