I know this is supposed to be disposable but I just wash it off and it's good as new. Maybe it's supposed to be disposable because what you will pull out of your drains is pretty disgusting and most people probably dont want to attempt to get it off of the Zip-It anyway.

I stuck this down the drain in my apartment and got out a load of gunk/hair/disgustingness. Then I used it on the sink, which also produced some foul-smelling gunk.

The big kicker was taking it to my mom's house and using it on her slow draining shower. What I pulled out must have been at least 2 feet long!

I really don't think chemicals could have dealt with that mess. Chances are, without the Zip-It we would have had to have a plumber come out and use a snake, which is expensive.

Thanks people who make the Zip-It! Awesome!

nifty tool that can be reused

I liked this product. I've used it to clean my clogged sink since my landlord will not do anything to unclog it. It's made of hard plastic that is 17 inches long, excluding the holder. If you are like me, you will just reuse this and not throw it away. After getting those yucky hair and stuff from previous tenants, I just removed them and cleaned this with soap and water. It's as good as new.

Now, if the clog is farther than 17 inches, then this will not work. I don't think you can use this to unclog your bath tub. You can try though. I haven't used it for that.

By the way, the seller sent it to me rolled. It took some time for it to straighten out by itself. I have not thrown the wrapper either. I just put it back in there after using and cleaning it.

We've been having issues with our bathroom sink since we moved back into our house. We previously rented the house for 2 years and it seems as if the renters didn't take care of much of anything while we were gone. Lesson learned, don't rent out a home that you put a lot of money and effort into. I decided to try this drain cleaning tool after liquid plumber and some other drain cleaners failed. Well I wouldn't say the chemicals failed but they only worked for a short time before the drain started running slow again. Since we can't remove the drain plug, I needed something that would fit easily between the partitions of the drain plug without damaging it. THIS THING WORKS!!! I attached an image showing what kind of gunk and hair came out of the drain. DISGUSTING! The drain has been draining like a charm for almost 2 weeks. Normally we would have to put more chemicals down the drain to get it to drain anything, which was a bandaid solution. Now we have been clog free for a while which makes us very happy.

-Small enough to fit in spaces between permanent drain plug partitions
-Can get caught periodically when pulling the cleaner out, just jiggle a little to dislodge. Don't yank so you don't damage the plug.

This thing works great! We had a slow draining bathtub and the water was to your ankles while taking a shower. I put this thing into the drain and pulled up the nastiest hair clog ever! It took about three or four times to get the drain all the way clear. I suggest wearing gloves, having some paper towels ready, and don't pull it out of the drain too quickly- you might get splashed with some nasty water and hair! I found this to be easy to clean afterward, just take a paper towel and wipe from the bottom to the top and then rinse. You could definitely use it a couple times, it is a lot sturdier that I thought it was. I also bought the OXO bathtub drain protector because I saw another review that mentioned it, it is worth the money and prevents the drain from clogging with nasty hair clogs.

This little piece of spiky plastic genius paid for itself within a couple of months. I am a hair shedder and am renown for clogging up drains. I've spent my fair share of money on Drano, and that stuff adds up after a while. This drain cleaner pulls up all that hair and gelled up shampoo (wear gloves, please. It's gross.), and you're not using harsh chemicals to try and break it down. I used to need Drano once a month or so, and now I use this drain cleaner maybe every few months now. It REALLY does the job. My drain gurgles now. Gurgles. Because it's so empty in there. Did you even know drains could do that?

This worked so well that I was amazed - it cleared a massive sink clog in about three goes. I'm actually buying a few more as stocking stuffers for my family (I know - 'Here's something that will unclog your sink!' doesn't exactly scream Christmas. But I know they'll be thanking me when they use it in March!). You can definitely reuse it, but you'll need to get the gunk off and spray it down with bleach, so the easily icked out might just want to buy a few and toss as you go. One star off for slooooooow shipping - it took ten days (seller was Gatzies), which kind of stinks when you have a backed up sink. But if you have time to wait, I can't recommend it highly enough!

I am so happy right now. Not only did I clear my bathroom sink with this but also my kitchen double sink which has been giving me problems for years. This thing is amazing. I had it in a package for probably a year and never even tried it but in desperation after many drain opening chemicals didn't work I gave it a shot. The kitchen sink has been a problem forever. I just put the zip it down one side and nothing came back but I thought I could feel it push something down the drain, so I put it down the other side of the sink and the same thing happened. When I flushed it with hot water I couldn't believe my eyes, both sides of the kitchen sink were totally free and the water was flowing down the drain miraculously. I'm going to buy another one of these so I have one for both the bathroom and kitchen sinks. If you think this thing is getting stuck in your sink and you can't pull it up there's kind of a little trick I discovered that might help you as you pull it up move it a little bit from side to side to accommodate the spikes on the sides and you will get it out of the drain.There are many brands of this item, but this is the actual one I used so will buy the same again.
