This may be the final word on an old story that keeps popping up in collections about ghosts and poltergeists and other night-bumpers. Well written, well researched, well footnoted and very entertaining. Would love to see an atmospheric BBC adaptation.

Good narrative---not a scholarly academic history nor a historic fiction. Sort of what one would expect from a journalist.
