It's true what they say, you can't judge a book by its cover. This book was a great and entertaining read.
On the other hand, Alice decided to go back to Glastonbury even she knew what was awaiting for her. She became too hard on herself for disappointing her family when she set off to London with River years ago and she got tired with that life, she wanted back where her heart was.
But when Alice was gotten in on the frame, River’s no strings attached relationship with Georgina got complicated in a sort of some kind of love triangle. Will revenge gets a fruity pop of flavor or a lush spirited destiny is so much stronger?
Georgina’s character spiced up the plot. There were times I thought she would change but no, she has not. Like a potent green apple ginger martini, she was blinded by jealousy, greed and hatred. Her character deserves a clap for the devious plan she devised on both River and Alice. Hey! But she also did get a huge slap because the ending was an epic fun and I want to high five Isabella May for bringing her character to my memory of best book villains I don’t intend to forget.
While Tamara’s character earned a special mention who deserves the best supporting villain award for putting hell of a life to her sister, Alice. She has no equal but a dry punch of lemon, lime and bitters for twisting a knife behind her sister’s back.
From Blake, Lennie and Lee to Cassandra, Hayley and Heather, the role they were given in the story were thought well to fill the fun to the brim. It was like watching reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S where the author gave us a rowdy but complex bunch of characters, you are either going to get a Kaffir Lime Sour or both River Jackson and Isabella May’s Tor In The Mist and The Magical Mañana.
Isabella May was able to approach the events and the narrative so well that she shaped River’s character, a conduit to give a powerful message about how hate could be so lethal-y consuming, you won’t even care what’s the consequences. She was also able to point out the meaning of destiny and how goodness could be contagious, you won’t able to stop it because it will “spread like a wildfire”.
From cakes to cocktails, Isabella May made the perfect mojo mojito here on her new book. Set in a small town of dreamy Glastonbury where music, tales and myth collide, The Cocktail Bar is an intoxicating deadly mix of romance and drama. After reading the author’s debut, Oh! What A Pavlova, I knew for an instant that this story is an uproar magnet of wit and fun-loving characters that will give you a joyride twists of fizz and magic.
Revenge plans are set in place and poor River is hampered at different turns as he tries to get his dream off the ground. But not to worry because local babe Georgina wants a piece of the pie…and that pie includes River it seems. The face she is the younger sister of his arch nemesis is not suspicious at all…nope not a bit!
Then his ex-bandmate, and stolen babe Alice rushes home and straight into his bar. She’s in love with him it seems but does River feel the same, he’s busy bonking Georgina. Oh what a right old mess he’s got himself into.
Then there is the mysterious bottle from Mexico. He guards it like it’s the crown jewels. The cocktail which contains this as an ingredient is a safely guarded secret and he will only allow a select few to have it…but why? and who?
This cocktail bar is a hotbed of drama, mystery and even by Glastonbury standards downright weirdness.
This was an enjoyable romp with lots of giggles, as River tries to figure out just what the hell he is doing!
There was a character in the book with the same name as me as well which I never often see so that was nice aswell, even though she was a bit of a bitch!! A really enjoyable read.
This book made me feel the heady mix of Fun Summer nights, warm evenings watching the sun set and a thirst for cocktails. A great read for this Summer.
Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.
Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.
But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.
Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one…
