Just got my CocoDrill and used it today. It worked like a charm. It took me all of 30 seconds to open the green coconut and get the water out! I was shocked at how fast and easy it was. Tomorrow I will try it on a older coconut to see how it works! GREAT TOOL! I looked online for ways to open a green coconut - a big knife/machete takes quite some time to hack away at the outer layers, but with this handy dandy tool -- it's done in a snap!

Using the drill regularly for 3 months. It works good, but I question how long it will last being that it's made very cheap.

The plastic piece that clears out the drill broke after third use. The drill could be sharper to make it easier.

I think a higher quality version should be made as one solid unit. Rubber grip on handle and better quality materials. I can't see the current quality lasting more than a couple years at best.

If it brakes I'll buy a different brand. But as of now it's getting the job done easily and I'm happy.

I like the wide hole that this punches in a young coconut, it is easy to pour from. However, this is my least favorite of the three openers that I bought from Amazon. What I don't like about it:
1) The metal shaft isn't attached very strongly to the plastic handle. Eventually, the pressure of pushing on it will break. It almost came up and poked me through my hand when it did so.
2) It is useless on even slightly mature coconuts. It is too big to fit through the eye and not sturdy enough to push through a hardening husk or shell.
3) I am always losing the plunger. It doesn't attach to anything and has a tendency to fall out or roll away. The end cap is also tiny and easy to lose

My favorite style of opener is the solid metal blade-like ones, such as Coconut Opener. Look around for the best price, I think they are all the same. They are very sturdy and go into the coconut much easier, even through the full green husk or a slightly mature nut.

If you need to poke the eyes out of mature coconuts or like to make a perfectly straw-sized hole, 1 X Haidragon Coconut Knife makes a smaller hole and is pretty good. It is more solidly constructed that the black plastic models, with the plastic handle completely surrounding the metal shaft.

The tool makes a nice hole for a straw. You do have to press pretty firmly while twisting to cut through the hard coconut shell. Since a coconut is full of coconut water, be prepared to have some spill either from the hole or out the top of the tool (if you push too hard) We opened quite a few coconuts before our tool dulled so much my wife couldn't make it work. So we ordered a new one.

This will not work on the round, hard, dark brown coconuts most of us find in the grocery store. If you notice, the coconut in the picture is a lot different that the ones most of us find at the store. I'm thinking leaving the outer husk on keeps the inner shell from getting hard. Long story short, this thing won't make a scratch in the hard, brown shell of the ones most of us see, and when I pushed harder it slipped and I almost put it through my hand!

Recieved in a great timely fashion. Its made of durable plastic and thick steel which is great. There is a cap on the tip to keep someone from cutting themself however I feel that the cap will eventually get lost. There is also a knob that comes with it that slides down the top as a means of pushing the contents out of the bottom but its loose and will eventually get lost if not careful also. When you look at the picture the other components such as the safety cap and the push knob are not visible but they are useful if you can keep all of the contents together. Its made very sturdy. I'm satisfied.
