For years, I've been drinking Peet's French Roast, and had never found anything (within a reasonable price range) that I liked better. Recently, however, Peet's hasn't always been available on Amazon for a reasonable price, so I started looking around and found SF Bay French Roast (ground) and ordered (I also ordered the Italian Roast in whole beans, but haven't opened it yet).
I'm immediately sold on SF Bay French Roast--it's got the typical bold dark roast flavor of a good French roast, but is much smoother and less harsh than Peet's. It's (far and away) the best French roast I've ever made at home. Added to that, it's cheaper by the oz. than Peet's. I just hope not everyone finds out how good this is--and what a bargain--or it might be harder to come by.
