Analyzing We analyze each and every shipment of coffee twice – once before it leaves its country of origin and again when it arrives at our Lincoln, CA facility. This careful attention to the coffee we receive ensures it’s of the best quality for you!	Cupping After the coffee is roasted, we prepare a tasting session. We start with 8.25 grams of roasted ground coffee, add 150 ml of 200-degree water, let it steep for a few minutes, and then begin tasting.	Roasting Roast level determines the strength of your coffee. Every minute of the roasting process is critical in meeting our quality standards. From 12-20 minutes, a temperature change happens, taking each bean from raw to perfection.

As I have gradually morphed from a young, carefree, man about town to an aging, embittered crank, I have become increasingly particular about the coffee I drink. I have searched high and low for good French roast over the years, with hit or miss results until I ordered San Francisco Bay about a year ago, which I have now ordered half a dozen times in the months since. The beans have always arrived fresh, dark, and shiny, with that distinctive aroma unique to fresh, well roasted coffee. I've used it in cone filter, French press, espresso machine, and K-cup variations (I have a Bunn K-cup machine that has an attachment for loose grounds), all to wonderful effect. Frankly, I've been startled by the occasional negative reviews, given my experience. It is possible that I've simply gotten lucky; or it may be that any given brand of coffee is one of those things, like Love Actually, the color pink, or fruit bats, that you either really like, or despise with a fiery passion.

Our local Costco stopped carrying this brand. They've done this before and then brought it back and I hope they will again because this was the cheapest whole bean coffee they sold and the flavor is fantastic. At Costco this came in a 3 lb. bag for $17. Here on Amazon its about the same price but it is only a 2 lb. bag.
We were almost out of the bag I bought here at Amazon, but I was going to Costco so I thought I would see how much some of the other whole bean coffee costs. Starbucks French Roast was $17 for 2.5 lb. bag, so I thought I would give it a try. Not even close. You could tell when you opened the bag, it didn't have that same great aroma SF Bay French Roast has. And the coffee, while fine was not nearly as robust and flavorful. So after we use up this bag of Starbuck's we will probably come back here to Amazon to get the SF Bay coffee. But I wish Costco would carry it again, as we get money back from Costco for our purchases, and it was a larger bag.

OK, I am maybe the biggest coffee snob out there. This stuff is good. Every time I need coffee, I go on a scavenger hunt trying to find the next best thing. I have tried Fresh Roasted Coffee, Peets, Don Pablo, Starbucks,and Koffee Kult. Nothing touches this stuff. If you are thinking about getting any of those brands of coffee, dont. Get this. It is the absolute best!

I vaguely recall having Fog Chaser coffee during a trip to San Francisco years ago. When I saw it online, I was intrigued and got a 2 pound bag of beans for Christmas. Upon opening the bag, the smell was rich and impressive. The first sip of the coffee brought back some memories of that long ago SF trip.

I made the coffee with my AeroPress coffee maker. It generally makes a really good cup of coffee with any coffee beans. But, with this coffee it was excellent. A little more expensive than my regular coffee each work day morning so I treat myself to Fog Chaser on weekends when I am not in a rush.

I can't find it locally, but I wish it could be purchased here in Portland, Oregon (and in a one pound bag). With the coffee addiction here, I think it would sell well.

As a treat I have brought in small baggies of the beans to select friends at work to try at home. They all have been impressed with the product.

Late Update: Was reviewing the Amazon current price (with free shipping). I figured out that this coffee in 2 lb bag is about the same price as 2 smaller bags of my regular coffee from the supermarket during weekly trips. Am slowing transitioning over the all Fogchaser for my coffee needs. Good stuff.

A bold decaf! Yay! I’m tired of coffee snobs telling me I must not really like coffee because I drink decaf. Actually, I like coffee more because I’m not buying it for the buzz but for the taste. Unfortunately, the misunderstanding is likely due to the fact that most decaf is, indeed, wimpy tasting. But not this. If you want coffee that tastes good and strong but won’t throw your heart into paroxysms, this is the stuff!

So I'm a coffee snub and LOVE coffee drink like 3-4 cups a day. I prefer whole bean and use burr grinder and my espresso machine and make mostly Americano (espresso + water) on occasion I'll make a latte. But I dont like adding anything besides water as I want to taste the coffee. I often will get some fancy coffee from local roaster when its fresh it makes huge different and will also pick up bags on amazon mostly for guests who dont care about coffee like i do and for me to try different brands. I have probably tried at least like 30-40 various options of amazon over the years and this one hit the #1 spot for me. First the beans were super oily which is rare to find on amazon as they often are older and have dried out by time i get it, but these arrived so oily as if had just been roasted. When I opened the bag, it was like Mike Tyson punched me in the face with a coffee bean, very aromatic again something I usually get with my fancy coffee from local roaster. I ordered another bag to try again to see if i got lucky or if this is the norm. I tried fog chaser and have Petes Espresso is next

Extremely drinkable coffee - the best I’ve found

I use a burr-grinder and pour-over method for my coffee, and San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser is, in my opinion, the best out of all the different coffees I have used over the years. It is roasted to that perfect point where the richness of the coffee can be extracted without the bitterness and over-acidity of under-or-over-roasted beans. The beans I receive are always fresh and rich in oils with a full enticing aroma. This coffee creates a lovely, smooth cup which is drinkable to the last sip even as it cools. The only problem (if you call it a problem) I have with Fog Chaser is that I have gone from one cup in the morning to 2 and sometimes 3, with an additional afternoon coffee break - it is that good.

I have tried LOTS of coffees online or from shops , I am very fussy and a mass coffee drinker and I was getting fed up with naff coffee , sure they all have a fab write up when you read about what you are about to buy but none have done the job for me .... until I brought this coffee it is rich and strong in flavour but not bitter and cheap tasting it is without doubt the best coffee that I have ever purchased and it’s the only one I always make sure I don’t run out of

This is a mixed product page and so reviews are lumped in together. This review is for the French roast. I can’t comment on other varieties.
I took a bit of a punt with this as I have never heard of the company before despite them having a UK office in Wales – I am guessing the roasting and packing takes place there. I am glad I took a chance with it as this has just gone straight into my number 1 slot for French roasts. The roast is to perfection, just getting to the point where the oils are oozing out, but without the burn. The beans are a deep dark brown colour and the aroma is exactly what I want from a roast. When I think of coffee, this is exactly what I imagine
Dark roasts are not for everyone, but they are my favourites and this one packs a punch. I use it in a bean to cup to make Lattes. The milk can often weaken the flavour, but this one shines through. As a straight coffee it can be a bitter, but I tend to use lighter roasts for straight coffee.
This one is nicely priced at £9.50 which is just as well as I polished off a bag in less than a month and I am the only coffee drinker in the house. I have ordered more and it is likely to be a regular purchase now.

I was curious about the brand and this roast but it does not agree with me and the grinder in my coffee machine.
Too dark for my liking and the stickiness/oiliness of the beans make the grinder struggle. I never had that problem with any other coffee beans and I have loaded it with tens of different beans and roasts.

I know dark roasts are more bitter, but this has proved to be too much for my taste buds.

The smell from the beans is incredibly strong. Even putting the beans into my coffee machine makes me turn my head away.

I decided to give it a chance for a few weeks and it's not terrible, but it's not nice either.

Perhaps I just haven't developed a taste for coffees this bitter, but I haven't had anything this bitter from coffee shops before.

Wouldn't buy again.

This coffee is the bomb diggety. It's strong, dark, and has a rich flavour. And the price is right! Won't break the bank. We are coffee buffs and find these beans to be far superior to the crusty old dry beans a lot of other companies peddle. Don't listen to those who tell you beans shouldn't be oily. These beans are oily and carry a sealed in, rich flavour.
