A LOT HAPPENS in this book. So much so, that I didn't expect a lot of the events to take place. Seriously, the things that happened were freaking nutso! I was so disappointed in most situations that Braelynn put herself in and through, that there were times where I thought I would have to quit. I was so so so mad. But I pushed on through, with a side of passive aggressive behavior because I just knew things would have to come together better. Braelynn just shows us that she is a force to reckon with. That girl has balls of steel, and she ain't afraid to show you either. You will totally see her through new eyes, in this book. We see all sides of her: the good, the very bad, and the extremely ugly!
Nothing, and I mean nothing, could have stopped my love for Peyton. That guy is one in a freaking million. He would take a bullet, be hit by a train, tumble down a mountain, and jump from a balcony, if it meant saving and securing Braelynn from anyone or anything. He is sooooooooooooooo stinking passionate. His love for her is just GAHHHH! It made me weepy seeing the stuff he was being put through. But that didn't knock him down, he kept on keeping on. Only because he knew that their love could and would withstand EVERYTHING!
Beyond the situations that Braelynn put herself through and in, I loved this book. As you can see my rating is 5 Stars!! Even though it is a 5 Stellar Stars rating, I had my reservations.Read more ›
Peyton and Braelynn are back, right were we left them...with Brae waking up in the hospital after her attack. Things are unclear and the doubt that surrounds her life causes her to make some drastic decisions. Those choices not only have an effect on her, but on all of those who love her, Kennedy, Gus, Loren and Peyton.
I fell even more for Peyton in this book. The events with Lynn broke him. When a chance encounter brings them back together, it is game on. He pulls out all the stops to get his woman back. He grew so much through his love for her, it was great to see. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and they really steam up the pages. I loved that all of the secondary characters played a vital role in this book; their love for Braelynn evident.
This book is not for the faint at heart; it will cover some tough subjects and leave you wondering what in the world just happened. Livia Jamelan slapped me in the face, punched me in the gut and just kept on writing. And the ending....perfectly Braelynn and Peyton (sorry no spoilers here). I know that the rest of their story is unwritten but if it ended there, I wouldn't be disappointed- BUT I do hope to see some more of Braelynn and Peyton in the future!
I actually found the scenes of steam to be a bit overdone and caused me to start skimming past them. The BDSM felt totally forced. I just could not buy that in Brae's situation it would not take tremendous adjustment or be trauma really. The ending was also meh. I expected a cliffhanger and while there is room for the third book and some questions are unanswered, I'm just not dying to know them. There were also some typos again and even one unfinished sentence. I did not expect to find that in a second book with a bigger price.
I do appreciate that while the story is still - rich guy rescues damsel, there are some unique elements.
Overall I enjoyed the book but wasn't overjoyed.
We pick up right where Consensual left off, Braelynn is missing a week of her life and has no memory of it. Evidence points to her having a grand ole time living it up in the city high on drugs and alcohol. Braelynn knows this isn’t right, she feels it. But with the video evidence, everyone is left questioning her. She decides to leave her friends and be on her own. This was very hard to read as she goes through quite the stage of self-destruction. I just wanted to go into my kindle and give her a big hug. She survives on OxyContin, booze and sex. Instead of fulfilling her dream of being a lawyer, she would just go through the motion of living, not caring about anyone or anything. She goes under the radar leaving everyone in the dark and Peyton left with his own demons.
“Now I knew why I’d never wanted to love anyone before. Why having an real feelings toward her was the wrong thing for me to do. Love could only f**k up things. I’d lost all my power. I was helpless, unable to protect her. I felt absent, powerless.”- Peyton
“I only expected that now my sister and friends would assume I was a junkie. Running from my problems instead of facing them head on. But this wasn’t about them. I needed to get away from this life that I no longer recognized.Read more ›
