Editorial Reviews

Review

"J.Warner and Susie Wallace have succeeded in writing a book that is the perfect trifecta - drawing kids into the story of Jesus, encouraging them to investigate and learn about Jesus' story, and giving them the tools they need to stand by their Christian faith. This book offers our youth a solid foundation for their faith, which is a priceless commodity and raises up a generation of Christian leaders for our communities." - Jordy and Emily Nelson, Parents and Wide Receiver for the Green Bay Packers

"
Cold Case Christianity for Kids is a great family read-aloud, but don't be surprised if your kids want to read ahead. Cold Case Christianity for Kids will inspire them to seek truth, to love Jesus, to have a new fascination with the Bible, and to become the kinds of truth detectives who can make a difference in our world."- Jeff Myers, Ph.D., President, Summit Ministries

"Here'sa creative, clear, and compelling primer that will sharpen the reasoning skillsof kids. They'll love the detective approach to the evidence for faith!" -
Lee Strobel, best-selling author of The Case for Christ

"J.Warner and Susie Wallace have written a book that will engage your children inan interesting new way. Helping our kids learn
how to think rather than what to think is key to raising well rounded, stable adults. Cold-Case Christianity for Kids will help your kids stand tall for the Truth no matter what challenges they face in life." - Melissa Joan Hart, star of God's Not Dead 2

"When I read
Cold-Case Christianity, I wished it had been available when I first examined the Christian faith. Cold-Case Christianity for Kids combines the wisdom and excitement of detective investigations with the case for Christianity, and it's written by parents who have been training students for years.  If you want your children to be ready to defend the truth about Jesus, this book is essential." - Josh McDowell, apologist and author of Don't Check Your Brains at the Door

From the Author

Cold-Case Christianity for Kids includes many illustrations I've drawn for kids, and is supported by an interactive website that allows kids to download chapter activities and "case note" fill-in sheets. When these are successfully completed and assembled in an"Academy Notebook," readers will be qualified to earn a Cold-Case Academy "Certificate of Merit." Plus, Cold-Case Christianity for Kids follows the same chapter sequence as my adult book, Cold-Case Christianity, so parents and children can discuss and explore the evidence together, chapter by chapter.

J. Warner Wallace is a cold-case homicide detective, popular national speaker and best-selling author. He continues to consult on cold-case investigations while serving as a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He is also an adjunct professor of apologetics at Biola University and a faculty member at Summit Ministries. J. Warner was a conscientious and vocal atheist until the age of thirty-five, when he took a serious and expansive look at the evidence for the Christian Worldview and determined that Christianity was demonstrably true. After becoming a Christ follower in 1996, Jim continued to take an evidential approach to truth as he examined the Christian worldview. He eventually earned a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

J. Warner’s professional investigative work has received national recognition; his cases have been featured more than any other detective on NBC’s Dateline, and his work has also appeared on CourtTV and Fox News. He also appears on television as an investigative consultant (most recently on truTV) and had a role in God’s Not Dead 2, making the case for the historicity of Jesus. J. Warner was awarded the Police and Fire Medal of Valor “Sustained Superiority” Award for his continuing work on cold-case homicides, and the CopsWest Award after solving a 1979 murder. Relying on over two decades of investigative experience, J. Warner provides his readers and audiences with the tools they will need to investigate the claims of Christianity and make a convincing case for the truth of the Christian worldview.

Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect initially. The words "Cold-Case" in the book title almost makes you feel slightly overwhelmed. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised once I opened to the first few pages. First of all the style of writing is really comfortable (easy) to read and follow. It flows. I even read it outloud because I liked the uniqueness of the book.Immediately you're placed into the story as a kid who is about to become a student police cadet alongside your two friends at the local police department for their new detective training academy. Through your participation, you learn some valuable things that will help you become your own detective. The very first thing you learn in the academy is that to solve cases, you need to use your brain. In chapter 1 you learn about presupposition and how you cannot solve cases with your mind already made up. We have to remind our children to always be open minded. Through taking observations, making lists of evidence and explanations, we can start to see our children determine for themselves what is true and what is not. What I really liked was the fact that there are illustrations, and prompts on every single page that definitely helps to keep the reader and listener engaged. I never once felt bored when reading from this particular book and neither did my children when I read it to them. There was always a question or CSI Assignment that needed to be answered through paying attention and research. Homework if you will. Great way to get those Bibles out and research verses and asking related questions.Overall, what a great interactive guide for children and families. It makes researching truths a lot more fun! What I am taking from the investigating was that you have to teach a child to find their own truth in their beliefs, so they can teach others to believe in them too. That I can do.I highly recommend.Read more on my blog: theboldandthebrewtiful.blogspot.com*FTC Disclaimer: This book was provided to me complimentary from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my participation in a blog tour. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting and interactive for tweens
Reviewed in Singapore on October 11, 2020
I love how this book appeals to the tweens. The writings is simple to understand. The illustrations is interesting.
The chapter videos and activities are very helpful to cultivate interest too.
This is a very good starting book to get the tweens to discover for themselves the truth of Jesus. Eventually when they grow up and go into the world, the world is going to question them. This academy will help them to be ready and equip to answer in times to come.
