Ending up in a small, mountain town with no money and no place to stay is the least of my worries. I only have one goal and that is to not get found by my abusive ex-boyfriend. My first read by this author...not impressed. The story line got lost several times...important information was often left out all together. Too many unbelievable things. A large number of editing mistakes. And the writing was stiff, too stilted. I won't bother with this writer again.

This is my first book by Misty and look forward to more. This story had my heart in my throat the whole time. So much happens in a short amount of time. I am looking forward to book # 2. The last part of the book will be something no one would see coming.

Finding Peace Together

Amber finally makes the decision to get out of the toxic relationship with her abuser, Peter. She quietly puts her apron away and walks out of work, checks her gas tank, and leisurely drives away. She has no intention of ever trusting another man. This was a hard lesson learned. When her gas tank is almost empty, she pulls into a small local store to consider her options. She has no money, no job, and no place to stay for the night. The clerk said she could sleep in her car and he would not have her towed, but there was no offer of food. But as she walked away, the man behind her, Granite, offered a small extra room he had which would provide her a safe place to sleep. He fills her tank with gas and she follows him to the cabin he built. He gives her food, shows her the spare room, and heads to his room to sleep.

Just as Granite is drifting off, Amber screams and he runs to her and holds her as she fights him. She finally awakens and apologizes, then asks him to stay with her. As she falls asleep with her head on his chest, he knows he is in trouble as his feelings for her deepen.

Granite told her about his love for his wife who had died in a car accident, and she knew he was a kind and good man. As they sit by a bonfire that evening, identifying the constellations, he reaches out to push her hair back and she jumps out of reach in panic! He gently asks her to talk to him, to let him in and tell him who hurt her like this. He reaches out his hand, and finally she takes it. They sit down again and she tells him what Peter did to her and that she cannot allow him to find her again. As she plants a garden for him and they share so much time together, they relationship begins to get more serious. Granite finally asks her to stay with him forever and, instead of having to think about it as he had expected, she immediately answered yes. But when they went into town together, everyone seems to be whispering and a friend told him that her ex had filed a missing person report. The police were searching for her and, even worse, Peter knows where she is! He waits to find her alone and attacks. Will Granite be able to save her? Will he survive when Peter plunges a garden tool into Granite’s side?

Granite retreated to the mountains to escape reminders of his past and his wonderful wife. Amber was just trying to escape from the cruelty of her ex, and instead found comfort, peace, and love. Both of them found healing in the other. Would Peter take that away from them? Or will they be able to find the future together that they both deserve?

Trying to escape a horrible abusive relationship Amber is getting ready to do just that. Amber is getting finished at work once she's done she is driving as far a tank of gas will get her. She stops a like a mini Mart and while asking the clerk for some help.
Granite is listening to her poor story and decided to offer to help her. He offers a room at his home. She is reluctant due to her past but severance has a certain vibe that is helpful not harmful. She finally follows him to his home. Her abusive boyfriend is out to find her and when shows up on the doorstep of Granites home he lets the boyfriend know he's not welcomed there and to leave. Time passes with no sign o f him till one day Amber is by herself and the ex comes back with revenge to Amber and Granite. After Amber screams and Granite hears he goes after her screams. This is where he is hit with something by her EX. Then there is a scuffle in between the guys. Granite ends up getting hurt and Amber screams until a man heard her cries and rescued him! Who is this mystery man?

Please tell me this is a parody series

The single most bizarre thing I have ever read. Honestly thought it was a joke, like one of those parodies authors sometimes write. I hope it is. I skimmed to see how it turns out. Not one single bit of it is realistic, not even science fiction would cover this. The improbability of any of this is so far beyond the scope of comprehension. SPOILER. I mean we are talking dead brothers coming back to life and disappearing into the woods to find crazy people chasing them with an axe to an old lady gifting a mysterious couple a cabin that has hundreds of thousands of dollars under the floor boards to a secret baby that they find with the crazy lady in the woods who took him from a boarding school at the age of five (because that’s where orphaned babies go?) and then he magically manages to find his bio dad in the woods and gets adopted by him after his psycho adoptive mom dies. Oh and they’re wanted for murder in a neighboring town but they can color their hair and create a new life in a town on the other side of the mountain. It’s got to be a joke.

Help Comes In All Shapes

Completely and utterly taken captive by this story! It was EVERYTHING!!! This story was completely addictive and intoxicating from the very first page, and I never wanted it to end. SO MUCH ALPHA! Amber and Granite finding exactly what they needed in each other even when they weren't looking for it. Both escaped to the mountains for different reasons and different events that caused them to escape to the mountains. The fact that they were able to open up with each other about most things that lead them to where they are now learning and discovering each other. I like that he was willing to assist her when she was down with no where to turn he steps up and help and I really like the fact that it just happens with reason or whys he helps because she needed it and when the love bug has bitten it isn't much else you can do but fall and these two fall hard for each other but will it be enough for them to get their HEA?
