will be the 4th. Leather is one of Britian's top mystery writers, read him and you will see why. Each character, even the "bad guys" have a background story and are not flat, boring characters. Cold Kill has events that are as current at the nightly news and just as scary!
Cold Kill is not just a thriller. It's also a fascinating, riveting psychological thriller, at times on a par with Homeland, that will take your breath away.
I really like Dan Shepherd and we watch him make the daily battles between work and his personal life. In addition it seems like there are major changes afoot and his job could well be changing in the near future to this. Add to that a plot that involves terrorism, torture, violence and a whole lot else and you get…well a very elevated heart rate! The more I read the quicker I had to get through it. This particular story just seemed to keep upping the pace and as threats went from suspected to real the tension ratchets up a notch.
In addition to all the drama we see a new character in the form of Charlotte Button, who could well cause a lot of waves in the ongoing books. Having said that it could be the American Richard Yokely that mixes it all up in the next book, who knows? By the time I had finished the book, I HAD to carry on reading to book 4, I mean after all I did buy the Kindle version as a ‘3 book deal’ and it would be rude not to! (FYI the 3 book Kindle deal is an absolute bargain at under £7) I am absolutely enthralled with the Spider series and can see me upsetting people I’ve promised reviews to because I JUST CAN’T WAIT to read the next in the series. Highly recommended!
Here, ex-SAS trooper Dan Shepherd is now a Detective Constable with London's Metropolitan Police seconded to a special unit tasked with apprehending smugglers of drugs, explosives, illegal immigrants, and the like. Shepherd's current assignment is to infiltrate a ring importing bogus Euros.
In the book's first few pages, we're introduced to a shadowy Saudi Muslim that travels the world on a British passport planning and unleashing the attacks of suicide bomber teams on infidel targets, the latest being Sydney, Australia. The terrorist mastermind plots in the storyline's background with relatively little text exposure as Dan does his thing. The reader expects the paths of the two to cross eventually, the only question is how.Read more ›

This is my 3rd spider book. Steven leather is a close second to Vince Flynn who was my favorite author. These books are fast paced, you cannot put them down. Read morePublished 15 months ago by Pamela M Lund
