Over the last 20 years, Cold Steel has succeeded in establishing the Tanto as a superior combat blade. The value of the Tanto styled reinforced point is now without question. Our superb Japanese Tantos are still unsurpassed for fit and finish, but are expensive, and beyond the financial reach of many knife enthusiasts. Our Recon Tanto has combined a 7" blade, classic Tanto styling, AUS 8A Stainless steel and a comfortable, western-style Kraton handle into an affordable package. The Recon Tanto is rapidly redefining the standard for combat knives around the globe. It is well on its way to becoming the preferred fixed blade for SWAT teams and special military units. Visit your local dealer and ask about the Recon Tanto. Experience the extraordinary quality and test the distinctive razor sharp edge for yourself and you will see why, as a professional, this is a unique knife you can’t afford to be without!
Cold Steel's popular line of Japanese-style Tantos are well regarded and offer high performance standards, but they are also priced accordingly -- at times out of the reach of many knife enthusiasts. With the Recon Tanto, the company has included many of their more expensive Tantos' features in a more affordably-priced package. Features include a seven-inch blade, classic Tanto styling, AUS 8A stainless steel and a comfortable, western-style Kraton handle.
A durable Secure-Ex sheath is also included.

the handle also has a solid finger stop that will keep your fingers from sliding onto the blade during heavy use. Seems built to last if you can pick it up for what you feel is a reasonable amount.
This knife is incredibly sharp , you just can't imagine how sharp right out the package it truly is . You can easily shave with it if you desire or slice overly ripe tomatoes without crushing them or even slice thru dense cloth rolls or even bone ! The blade is strong and takes a beating with out showing much signs of ware or damage if any at all . The texture and material of the grip is surprisingly sticky/tacky even with wet hands . Its soft and comfy but tactile enough for delicate handling . It also features a large riveted hole in the heel of the handle that you could lace a lanyard or leash thru which is nice as well . The knife also includes a sheath that's reffered to as secure=ex but let me just tell you , it's actually Kydex with ballistic nylon hanger wrapped and sewn securely to it . The sheath is designed in such a way as to fully secure the blade and just past the hilt which physically clamps/secures the knife as a whole but then is or can be doubley secured with the nylon extension/hanger portion which features a snapping cloth clasp around the end of the handle which effectively traps the knife into the locking kydex sheath. The sheath features several rivet holes for fastening to your gear or kit . Whether by fastex , zip ties , molle , pals or even just a belt or some 200 mile an hour tape ! It's a rather nice sheath in all honesty and when combined with the impressive knife it makes for 1 heck of a combination for the money you pay !

you will thank me later
I'm still in love, and it's been on my left hip ever since it arrived, but the finish is wearing as expected. I do find it much easier to sharpen than a standard (drop point, clip point, anything with a sharply curved edge) blade.
