The thick, extra wide blades are made from Japanese AUS 8A steel and meticulously ground to a thin edge for maximum shearing potential. Each blade is honed to astounding sharpness. Due to the high carbon content of the steel and the near perfect heat treatment, this sharpness will last a surprisingly long time.

I suppose for a guy with small hands, a medium size would be acceptable. Guys with larger hands are not going to like the medium at all. For example, my wife's hands are much like a child's hand in my hand, and the medium tanto fit her hand like a glove! Before purchasing this medium tanto I checked out a few Youtube videos to get a visual feel for the size and figured it was a safe buy. Boy was I wrong! And apparently, those guys whom I checked out on Youtube must have pint size hands also!
Again, the knife itself is the same top quality of any other Cold Steel product, so I have no complaints of neither the materials or construction of the Voyager medium tanto... just the fact that it's too small for large hands.
This little guy has all the function and quality of the larger Cold Steel Voyagers, and I'm convinced that it will make an excellent addition to my emergency roadside kit. The combination cutting edge and robust Tanto-point, should cover any contingency where an edged instrument is required. And you can't beat the Cold Steel Voyager's bang-for-the-buck! Watch the You Tubes on these knives!
As always, I cleaned the new knife thoroughly and lubed it well with TUF GLIDE, before wiping the blade down twice with a TUF CLOTH. TUF GLIDE not only slickens up the functionality of a new folding knife, it does a great job of staving of corrosion as well!
The lock can be a little hard to depress, mostly because it needs to be pressed almost completely down for the blade to be released. This isn't too big of a deal, the blade will never accidentally release during use especially with the tri-ad lock.
The shape of the handle is good for a strong 3 finger grip. If it was shaped a little differently the pinky wouldn't hang off. It doesn't need to be longer, just shaped differently. Considering this is a medium sized knife, this isn't really an issue.
The griv-ex handle has some jimping on the top. The lock back runs through the middle of the handles to the spin of the blade. I wish the lock back also had jimping on it, as well as some on the spine of the blade. Using a diamond file I added some myself.
The handles also have aggressive texturing that will surely tear pants up with use over time. This can be remedied by adding some jb-weld or similar on the handles under the pocket clip. The pocket clip is extremely strong. This knife isn't going anywhere once its clipped in.
All in all, for under $30 its a great buy.
