This is the first case I have bought for my latest generation Kindle (the one that came out at the end of August 2010). It attaches using the little hinges that insert into the actual Kindle, and it seems to attach just fine, and hold the Kindle in place well. I thought it might flop around, but it seems firmly placed against the back of the case. It was easy to insert, and functions fine. The leather is nice and supple. I selected the brown, and the picture on amazon is a good representation. It does seem like the leather outside and the suede inside are not firmly attached to one another (there is something like cardboard between them, so possibly the leather and suede aren't glued or adhered to this inside structure). I am undecided about this case because it just doesn't work as well as my previous case. For my second generation Kindle I use the JAVOedge Purple Croc Flip Style Case for the Amazon Kindle 2. It is fabulous. It is a beautiful color and the design is highly functional. It seems like it is protected well, you can stand it and read without using hands (while eating possibly), and it has perfect openings for all the Kindle buttons, etc. Maybe soon there will be a case like this for this third generation Kindle. The Javoedge case cost significantly less than this case as well, about 60 to 80 dollars less. Of course this Cole Haan case is real leather.

The other thing I'm not loving about this case is it's size. One of the benefits of switching to the new Kindle (for me) was to get a smaller, lighter device. After I inserted the newest Kindle into this Cole Haan case, and placed it beside my second generation Kindle in its JAVOedge case, they appear to be the exact same size in dimension and weight.

I absolutely loved my Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Kindle Cover with Hinge (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle), Saddle Tan for K2, so it was a no-brainer for me to check out the new Cole Haan line for K3.

As far as appearance goes, this cover is very attractive. The color is rich, the material is high-quality, and overall it looks fairly expensive. I have received many compliments on it within the last week.

The problem is that as soon as I removed the cover from the box, I noticed that a piece of leather on the spine was snagged and starting to shred. This obviously bothered me since I just spent $100+ for an item that I assumed would be high quality. The problem with the woven leather is that if you catch it on something and tear it, the whole area could potentially start to unravel.

My other issue with this cover is that it isn't super easy to fold back. It's definitely stiff and fights back a bit, and the woven leather on the spine kind of "bubbles" out when in the folded position. This makes me nervous, so I haven't been folding it back as much as I would typically.

Although I really do love how this cover looks, I don't think I can justify spending the money on something that isn't perfect. This cover would be excellent for someone who doesn't want to fold it back while reading, and who is very careful not to snag it on anything.

This case is just beautiful. This is my second Kindle, the first one being one of the original versions bought three years ago. I had a brown leather cover for it which was nice, but with the straps across the front of the device, a bit unwieldly. The Cole Haan woven leather case not only allows me access to the entire front of my Kindle, but it is gorgeous! The insert hinges work easily and with the on/off switch on the bottom of the Kindle, there is no need to reach behind for the switch so the snug fit of the cover is right on. One other review mentioned that it seemed bulky and the reason for the newest generation of Kindle was for light weight, etc. Well, I'm grateful it's as thick as it is to protect my Kindle from bumps and damage should it fall. It may be thick, but it's not heavy at all. The leather quality is what you would expect from this high end company. I'm thrilled! Now I need a purse to match!

This product is aesthetically beautiful and fits the 3rd generation Kindle well; however, the hinges on some of the covers tend to build up too much electrostatic.... The cover I purchased shorted out two Kindles, each within a couple of weeks. I contacted Kindle Support, thinking the issue was with the e-reader, and they confirmed the issue is a recurring one with this designer cover.

I had the second generation Amazon Kindle and the ruby sugar Cole Haan cover to go with it. After they were stolen in December (on Christmas Eve, no less) I purchased the latest generation Kindle and the identical Cole Haan cover to go with it.

When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at (a) how much smaller it was than the last version of this cover, (b) how well made it was and (c)the secure way in which it fit with the new Kindle (the last version of this cover had elastic bands at the corners). Unfortunately, I noticed that my new Kindle frequently spontaneously rebooted on its own. I assumed the problem was with the Kindle itself but when I called Amazon Kindle support they informed me that the problem was in fact with the Cole Haan cover.

Sure enough, I removed the Kindle from its cover a week ago and it hasn't spontaneously rebooted since! This, compared to every time I picked it up before (4-10 times a day) it was in reboot mode, which made for frequent interruptions when I was reading the paper or a magazine or a book.

I'm saddened that I'll have to return this cover because I like the look so much. After all, this is the second version of this thing that I've purchased! But it's nonsensical to keep this cover given the stress is causes to the Kindle itself. I'm a bit puzzled that Amazon continues to sell this item given that they are aware of the problem.
