but I expected this, so wore them all day and by the end of the day they were a perfect fit and VERY comfortable.
These shoes fit perfectly, are very comfortable, and look great.
I was worry about wearing them for the first time at my wedding, but they broke in easy and were very comfortable.

A couple say that their shoes acquired scuffs or scratches, and one guy even complains that his shoes "de-laminated" after some wear. Uh, guys? These are dress leather, open-lace, cap-toe shoes FOR GROWN-UPS. They cannot de-laminate because they aren't laminated to begin with. As a presumably adult male, you should own shoe polish and the makings of at least a small shoe-shine kit and you should know how to use them. Don't blame the shoemakers for your lack of couth.

To actually discuss the shoe itself, I would say that they do run slightly long in the toe. That said, I hesitate to order it any smaller than my normal size, as that might then be too narrow. I'm guessing that adding a pair or Dr. Scholl's custom orthotic inserts might make these a perfect fit, but I think they'll do fine just as they are. And yes, like all new dress shoes they will require some breaking in. But they are good-looking, versatile shoes. And while I normally prefer a leather sole, the non-slip soles on these should work out better for me at my job.

I'm happy with these so far, and will update if anything changes.

    ***UPDATE****

I went without the inserts, and after 3 or 4 wearings they broke in beautifully. I would now say they are among my most comfortable shoes, second only to my prized Ted Baker pair. And I don't know if it's the breaking in or my perception, but they no longer seem overly long either. Recommended.

Browns can be such a difficult color for men to use since it seems as if every designer has a different interpretation of what "dark brown" is. I thought I had hit a stroke of luck in finding these great looking oxfords on Amazon and from the pictures, thought that they would match my belt and watch perfectly, however upon unboxing them, I was disappointed to see that the shoes carried much more red in them than the product picture lead me to believe and I had no choice but to send them back – in truth, their coloring was closer to an oxblood or red-brown than a chocolate or wooden dark brown. I hope these pictures help better illustrate my point and can keep others from making my same mistake. Hopefully Cole Haan will put out a "browner" version soon as I still think that these will make a great pair of dress shoes.

Let me first say that this is the second pair of Cole Haan's that I have purchased and I absolutely love these shoes. I usually wear a 9.5M, but the toes are a little longer on these shoes so I went down to a 9M. It appears the color scuffs a little easy, but I have buffed them out with shoe cream every time and it looks good as new again.

    BE WARNED.
These shoes hurt a lot until you break them in, so i recommend wearing them in short intervals during the first 2 weeks. After that, you get all the comfort and quality you would expect from Cole Haan.

I bought these shoes for my wedding and figure I could wear them for work as well. I was worry about wearing them for the first time at my wedding, but they broke in easy and were very comfortable. They looked great at my wedding and are a great shoe to wear to work.

Amazing shoes. I wasn't having much expectations based on some of the reviews but I was definitely surprised in a good way. They feel very comfortable, might take a while to get used to the sole but great looking shoe nonetheless. Highly recommended.

The Cole Haan dress shoes arrived yesterday, and I very excited/anxious to be receiving them. I ordered them for a close friend's wedding, since I was invited to be an usher. I figured it was time to update my shoes, since my last ones were on the verge of retirement. Easier said than done for a poor college student. It took a good chunk out of my paycheck, but I was able to order the shoes just in time for the wedding with 3 days to spare. Well, I can honestly say when the shoes arrived they were, I sure was surprised (both in a good and bad way.) The shoes themselves are of really good quality. I've worn many dress shoes throughout my life (my family is religious.), and there are some things that I would like to point out about these shoes. Some dress shoes the leather is softer, more pliable, than others; well, not this shoe. These are as stiff as a board, with very little give. That can be a good or bad thing depending on one's opinion. I personally like dress shoes that way. With the shoe being so stiff, it does mean they'll be taking some breaking in. Now I bet your wondering why if I liked the shoe, that I gave them one star. Here's why. The pair of shoes I received, well, it was obvious that they were used. To be honest, I expected shoes that had been tried on like you would expect in a shoe stores (it's hard to find a pair of shoes that haven't at least been tried on once by someone else.) The issue I have, it that the pair I received was obviously used/abused for a couple days, then returned. There are scuffs around the shoe, but scuffs aren't hard to polish out. The heal is worn, by outside use if I could guess (concrete/pavement) it's harder to wear down the heel of a shoe on carper or tiles.Read more ›
