UPDATE: Just received the black patent leather...they fits perfectly! The black patent pair runs just a "tiny bit larger" than the metallic but that worked perfectly since I did not have to prep them by wearing the thick socks around the house. These fit right out of the box and are COMFORTABLE! Will definately purchase in the other colors!
Some recommend that you order up but I suggest you order your true size...if they are a little snug they stretch very easily. Remember, some of the styles/colors run a little big and others run a little small but not enough to size up or down. Trust me, get your true size!
Unlike other reviewers, I had tried these on at a boutique and knew my standard size 9 would fit perfectly. I did not buy a half size up. The padded insole and cushioned sole make them very comfortable for such a delicate shoe. The layout of the sole also give you more traction when walking. I sometimes find myself slipping in the completely flat soles of other flat shoes. My foot is a standard width (B or M), and I found these just wide enough.
They come packaged in a sturdy box and in individual, small felt shoe bags. I consider them worth the money spent, and I hope to wear them for years. The classic styling and tie detail should be on trend for a long time. Nice job, Maria!
Aside from fit, I think it is worthwhile to say that I almost NEVER spend this much on shoes, but I expect to have a high wear:cost ratio on these wardrobe basics, so I hope it will be worth it. I happened to go into TJ Maxx the day I was wearing the too-small 9.5s and found a pair of Lucky Brand "Emmie" flats and purchased them. I've tended to wear the Emmies a bit more, even though they aren't nearly as comfortable to walk in for long periods of time, because they are much lighter. The Bacaras are quite heavy for a ballet flat. I haven't travelled with either yet (I often wear a pair of flats and switch into heels after my commute/flight), but we'll see which ones make the cut when I start packing for a trip--I'm guessing the Emmies because of the weight.
Quality: If you are accustomed to unpadded flats from fashion brands like Steve Madden, these are a huge step up. I expect these will wear well over time. The lining does not appear to be real leather. They seem to be better made than my Marc Jacobs flats, aside from the lining.
Comfort: The cushioning really works to prevent fatigue over a long day. There was no break-in necessary for me.
Fit: I usually take a 7.5-8 My feet are slightly wide, so I chose the 8 and I am happy with the fit.
Style: I feel like the round toe is a little unflattering and in general the styling is rather bland. The ties from the corset back detail make a funny noise when I walk.
Overall, these do what I want them to, but they are a little mom-ish.
