I liked the premise and the original build up to the storyline. Addison Bowman is the beautiful widow that suffered a tragic loss. She's moving on with her life but at a snail's pace. She sees this beautiful man in a restaurant. He exudes power, confidence and danger. Addison instantly feels a connection, although they don't meet. They cross paths again, this time making eye contact and the story then begins to unfold.
Tijan provides mystery and suspense while the story unravels. Cole Mauricio is secretive and we don't get much from him except we eventually learn he's the head of one of the mafia families. I liked Cole; however, I needed more depth from him. He has the impression of complexity, dominance and totally alpha, but I craved experiencing it with him versus the implication.
The story is told from one point of view, Addison's. However, we heard Cole's point of view on two occasions later in the book. Diving more into his mind would have provided the added dimension I was desiring.
Tijan weaved a great plot, keeping me turning the pages quickly wanting to find out more. Additionally, a strong supporting cast of characters was introduced providing humor and increased dimension to the storyline.
All in all, it was enjoyable and I will be reading more from Tijan.
I wasn't sure what I was going to get when I started into Cole, but I'm so glad I picked this one up. Addison is a grieving widow, barely living her life, and when her best friend Sia forces her to move out and start living a little, not only does she listen but her life gets quickly turned upside down. Cole enters Addison's life and things get intense and a crazy romance starts and unexpected truths come out.
I loved how these two were connected without in ways you never could have imagined, and how Cole brought Addison back to life. They knew they should stay away from one another, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Cole let Addison make the decision over and over again once she knew the truth as to if she wanted to be with him, and over and over again she chose him, sometimes quickly and other times it took her awhile to make that decision. She did keep secrets from Sia though and I hated that. Sia was the one who unknowingly brought these two together and even though Sia herself had a lot going on, as her best friend should have been kept in the loop.
This story will throw you for a loop multiple times and things you didn't see coming will happen. I absolutely loved seeing Carter Reed and Emma in this book as well (for those of you who have read those books, you will enjoy seeing them too!) This story is both light and dark, angsty and yet it has it's funny moments as well. I really enjoyed Cole and Addison's story and it was perfect for them. I hope we one day will see an appearance of them in future stories by Tijan because I adored their characters (as well as Sia and Jake!). If you're looking for a dark (but not too dark) love story, definitely add this one to your tbr list today!
Where do I start with Cole? I found Tijan by a fellow blogger recommendation- It was Carter Reed and I fell in love. What a angsty author!
Ok, moving on. Cole was everything I expected of Tijan. I get so lost in a few of these authors i read that I never feel like I see any of the drama coming. It is how I know I've found a author to follow!
Cole has all of the traits that make my heart sing. Dangerous, mysterious, dark and deep.
Addison was a character that took me awhile to attach myself too. After losing her husband in a accident (first hand witness), she lived sheltered and not really knowing how to move on. Being haunted by her deceased husband she decided it was time to move on and out of the home they shared together. It was Addisons move that changed everything.
This is a great mob love story and would recommend anyone to read. Twist and turns that make you keep loving Tijan- but please, give us moreeeeee!
It took me awhile to realize it was the same Cole that was talked about in Carter Reed and I about flipped! I loved how Tijan connected the stories and it left me wanting more. Cole, Carter....BOTH!!!!
Happy Reading Peeps,
