Pic is taken on the fourth day and it's still holding the ice
The ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS are:
OUTSIDE 28 1/8 in x 15 1/2 in x 17 5/8 in tall;
INSIDE 24 3/4 in x 12 3/4 in x 14 deep.
The inner walls are fairly straight until the rounding at the bottom, which is about the last 1 – 1 1/2 inch.
Day 1: Loaded up in the morning with 5 and a half chunks of ice (square containers that held 1 gallon plus 1 pint of ice cream) plus food, had about a gallon of space left over. Ice chest in van with 1 blanket over it just to keep the sun off.
Day 3: added 20 pounds of frozen ground beef.
Day 5: The package of beef on top starting to thaw a little, so threw the blankets from my bed on top of the ice chest. Unloaded in the evening, only had about 2 Tablespoons of water in the bottom! The beef was still frozen hard except for the one on top which was about half thawed. Temps ranged from 34-70, (had a heater going at night), opened it 4-5 times a day. I did not carry it by the handles with the full load in it. I only pulled it across carpet. I was also careful not to overextend the lid. Wow – I can't wait to try it out in the summertime!
