This light does everything the product description says it does. Here is what they don't tell you it does that you might want to know about before you buy:

It has tiny green led battery meter lights that light up all green when the battery is full, if the light is on they are on......always. The position of these three green lights are right above your eyes when you wear the light on your head so they shine light at your nose and eyes. To me this seams very annoying so I covered the battery lights with some black tape and solved the problem.

Now on to the bad part. This light does not lock or click or go into any sort of off position. There is a dial that lets you select blue, red, low, medium, or high settings. So where is the off position? It is between the red and low positions on the dial. Is there any sort of detent or notch to prevent the dial form rotating to the on position? No, no there is not. Is the dial protruded with little points on the outside edge to turn it on easily? Yes. I have never been able to use this light, I put it into my backpack and off I go. Later that night I pull it out and it is dead, the dial rotated into the on position and ran the battery down, awesome. Gave it a second try, same result.

Now I lost the receipt, damnit. I would trade this for a cheep petzl any day.

This headlamp is marketed by Coleman a major U.S. brand in the camping/outdoor industry. The designer failed to notice a major flaw which renders the device useless. The product was probably designed using CAD, produced without a prototype to test. When you rotate the body of the headlamp to move the LED beam angle, the battery lid will pop out, spilling out the battery case. This is caused by a combination of a loose battery lid and the battery pack applying pressure to the lid. Do not buy this product until Coleman solves this flaw. If you purchase one already you can take the spring holding the battery case snug inside the headlamp body. Without the spring, the battery lid will not rotate as easily.

I liked the blue and red light options a lot, but I only used it a couple of times the first night out. While not using it, I wore it wrapped on my wrist, and at some point during the evening the battery case popped open and spilled the batteries who knows where. Not good!

This headlamp is excellent. I like how it has multiple settings from blue to white to red. It also has a full flashlight setting. the battery life has been great! I've had it for almost 2 years now and do not need to replace the battery still!

I bought this head lamp because of its 78 lumens rating. I wanted something bright. It's ok, I was expecting a bit brighter, but this is still a great headlamp. I paid $24.95 on Amazon, and Canadian tire has the same head lamp at $44. The head band fits nice and surprisingly stays put on your head. The red and blue LED lights are cool. However, they call the Red LED "Night Vision"... which is funny, because isn't that why we need a light in the first place? To see at night? They call the Blue LED "Sportsman", for reading maps... which seems like a mistake in the marketing, because you wouldn't see "water" anywhere on your map in the Blue light... Anyway, call them whatever you want, they are cool~!

The lighting for this lamp was adequate. My main complaint has to do with the battery cap. Even after tightening the cap, it had a tendency to come loose while in my backpack. While camping at night, the battery cap fell off and I was unable to find it. Without the cap, I had to hold the battery pack in with my finger otherwise the headlamp was pretty much useless. I didn't think much about it and planned on calling Coleman for a replacement part. Unfortunately, when I contacted them and explained that the headlamp worked and all I needed was the battery cap, they stated they could not sell me that part separately and I would have to purchase a whole new headlamp. When I told them I was not willing to buy a new headlamp from them just for the battery cap, they offered me a 25% discount if I bought the headlamp from their website...which was $40.00. Not worth taking a chance on this headlamp knowing you can't get a replacement part.

this light is junk. the rotary dial that turns the light on and switches between hi lo and med. is way too sensitive. i put the light in my backpak while hiking and just from being in the bag and shuffling around. it will turn it self on. several times i have gone to use the light and its dead. also the battery cartridge, sometimes the light will not come on at all. i have to adjust the battery compartment cover, not making good contact. i guess this is a good light for working around the house. i would not recommend this light for hunters or anyone else that needs a dependable light. you get what you pay for

The Headlamp is easy to use and has many uses. I have used it for taking evening walks with the 3 intensity lamp makes it useable in all lighting conditions. The red and blue are great for Deer hunting and trailing wounded deer. The high intensity provides long distant vision to safely help find your way when out in a boat or in large open areas.
The only minor negative is care must be taken when putting it in your pocket or sack that it does not get turned on draining the battery.
