I read a review of someone saying to not buy the family size because this one has the same light of the family size. I saw the family size one at walmart and it is double price $39 alot bigger although the same shape and color and style. Not sure how much light can the family size give but this one sure stands up like a family size lighting source. It has 2 controls one for low and 1 for high. When switched from one to another I see litle difference but it does say in the instructions that in the low setting the cumsumption of batteries is less.
I give this little lantern a 5 star, it does its job very well. Oh I forgot to mention our neighbors in the campsite had nothing to light up their area ( I guess they are more primitive campers) and our lights were enough to light up there area too. I do have to mention the campground I stayed have campsites one next to each other and probably that is why my lantern and string lights were enough to light up both areas.
I'm mortified, for I originally bought two of these as a gift, Feb 2013, for a family that had a really hard time during a power outage - again, based on reviews. So buyer beware - apparently a nifty little lantern, at a decent price - but only for so long as it works. I bought it as something to have for a power outage - thank goodness I found out how untrustworthy it is before having to rely on it in an emergency. I would strongly suggest avoiding this product, even if it means spending a bit more, for this lantern is no bargain. To sum: Just a cheap cute easily breakable toy.
This lantern allows her to place it on her walker in case of a power outage, which has given her peace of mind.
Its well made and sturdy...once the batteries are in, its really stable and won't tip over easily.
It throws off nice bright light on both the low and the high setting.
This was a great purchase...in fact, I'm thinking about getting one for myself now!
