The Coleman Big Basin 15 Big and Tall Adult Sleeping Bag combines the warmth of a mummy-style sleeping bag with the extra space of a rectangular bag. This adult sleeping bag has an elongated design that can accommodate most people up to 6 feet 6 inches tall. It is ideal for camping in climates where temperatures dip down to as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit. On warmer nights, keep the adjustable hood loose and open the two-way zipper to ventilate the bag. When the weather cools off, zip the bag completely to keep yourself warm and comfortable. The bag's Coletherm hollow polyester insulation and Thermolock draft tube help retain warmth, while its fleece-lined footbox and special quilting construction eliminate potential cold spots. Built to keep you warm season after season, this rugged, machine-washable sleeping bag features a ripstop-reinforced polyester cover that resists tearing. And thanks to its ZipPlow zipper, the bag easily opens and closes without snagging.

My camping buddy was not so lucky. His bag was rated to 20 and he said he could not get warm all night. He even threw hot hands near his feet and held one in his hands. He also thought his face was going to freeze off. I didn't have that problem. Heat that was escaping my bag was radiating over my face. He opted not to stay the second night.....I refused to go home and waved goodbye.
Now, the bag it comes with sucks. Buy a good quality compression sack if you intend to strap it to your back on a primitive camp. Way too bulky. The bag is thick rolled up, but you can reduce it maybe 1/3 with a good compression sack. Will update when I do a primitive camp and try hiking in with it.
Kept me warm.
Good size. Not claustrophobic feeling.
Fleece at feet helped warm them faster.
Bulky with included bag
A little bit of a pain to roll up again due to thickness
This is a great bag if you're bigger than an average person, and you don't plan to use it regularly in below freezing temps.
I'm 6'4", about 210 lbs, and found this to be a very comfortable sleeping bag.
Foot area is fleece lined.
Foot area vents to allow air flow.
It's not light, so you won't want to take it backpacking.
It's not small, so again, not for backpacking.
The zipper is on the left.
There is a lot of room to move around.
A couple of notes to the people who are looking to use this in 15 degree weather:
1) Use a sleeping pad.
2) Wear socks and long underwear, or some other long sleeved clothing.
3) Temper your expectations. This bag will suffice if the weather dips below freezing, but it won't be good for much below that. It will keep you alive in 15 degree weather, if that's your concern, but it won't be the best sleep you've ever gotten.
1) The bag also opens separately at the bottom. This allows you to unzip your feet if you get too warm.
2) The bottom portion of the bag is fleece on the inside to keep your feet warm at night.
3) the bag has an inside phone pocket secured with velcro up near the head opening. This feature is awesome.
4) the top pulls tight and you can secure it with the push lock provided.
I have used Coleman products for years and they have a wonderful warranty program they stand buy100%. This bag came with a limited 5 year warranty which I can't see using after examining the quality of it. Still, it's nice to know it's there.
I would highly recommend this bag for you if you are a big guy or if you just want the extra space. 5 stars!!!!
I am 6'2" and the sleeping bag was quite roomy and tall enough for me, easily. The drawstring at the top made it easy to close up the face to prevent heat from escaping. The zipper also seems quite fine, though I feel the design makes it a little bit more difficult to zip back up as opposed to zipping down.
At the end of the day, this sleeping bag was quite comfortable and did its job to keep me plenty warm in cold weather. I have not tried the bag below these temperatures, but feel confident that even probably 10-20 degrees cooler, you would be fine outdoors.
