One of the best features of this fan over others like it, is that the battery pack plugs into the fan. When you break camp for the night you just unplug the battery pack and store it in your bags. With other fans the batteries remain in the fan and it is too easy for the switch to get bumped during travel leaving you with dead batteries at your next campsite.
A must have for your tent.
It was quiet enough on high and lasted long enough. Nobody is going to get hurt by the soft blade, either.
It takes two people to mount it - one inside and one outside holding the magnetic frame, and I thought it was a little rough on the no-see-um mesh window but didn't find any problems afterward. I'll continue to worry... it's metal to metal and there's no telling if it'll somehow affect the gap-size of the mesh.
I don't know about rain (which is frequent, here). Depending on your rainfly this might be OK but if its not covered it's going to get wet. There is no way to zip your window shut from the inside without leaving this exposed unless you pull it off the magnet. It would be nice if there was a way to secure the magnet to the window somehow, because as soon as you pull it loose it's going to fall to the ground.
The battery pack is heavy and the power wire just shy of where we could zip our widow closed in the event of rain... not ideal. I held it in my lap most of the night, but I also wanted to watch the temperature because of other reviews.
It's better as a stand-up fan than a window-fan, but the window magnet makes it possible, anyway. As a stand-up fan the battery pack size issue goes away. So, I'm going to work with this a little to see if I can't somehow anchor the outside magnet to the mesh and find a way to prop the battery high enough, but if I can't we'll use it as an indoor fan most of the time.
