Read over the reviews about leaking from the lid. The older polylite version I have did leak from the lid if tilted when full. I resolved the issue by measuring lid diameter and ordering an o-ring available here on Amazon. Search for Buna-N O-Ring. The 5" #248 o-ring fit my jug perfectly and stopped all leaking. I'm not sure of the current jug version lid diameter, so please be sure to measure first if you consider getting an o-ring. The o-rings here ship with a minimum quantity of 25 or so for a reasonable price, so rest assured you'll probably never need to order them again.

I'm a letter carrier, so I needed something that would keep my water cold for up to 10+ hours in a hot vehicle. This jug has lived up to those qualifications! :) I did note, however, that on very hot days, I have to fill it with TWO trays of ice, but the water stays ice cold all day. On cooler days (70 and below), one tray of ice is plenty. Sometimes it's still almost too cold to drink! I do have issues once in awhile with leaking, but not all the time. I can't figure out if I don't have the lid tight enough, or if it's out of line just a little bit to cause the leak. But regardless, for the price, Coleman is the best brand out there, if you want your food/drink kept cold. I had previously used a One Gallon Coleman Jug, and found it way too heavy, especially when I would only drink about half of it a day. This Half Gallon Jug is much lighter to carry, but as a result, it does tip over a bit easier than the gallon-sized jug. It's the only brand I will buy.... You can't go wrong with a Coleman!

This is a review of the more updated Coleman 1/2 gallon jug. (The ones I have purchased look like the one gallon jug, not the one in picture with the rings at the top.)

I play a tennis 15+ days a month in USTA leagues, Ladder matches and USTA and WTT tournaments. It's 90+ degrees on the courts and lots of humidity in the summer time, so these jugs are part of my routine with tennis. I use both the one gallon (filled with only ice) and 1/2 gallon jugs( filled with ice and Gatorade) for tournaments, and just the 1/2 gallon jug if I am only going to be on the court for 2 to 4 hours.

I've read a lot of comments about how "this jug leaks", which I find to be somewhat misleading. Yeah, mine leaks too if the lid isn't placed on very tightly, and if the lid is wet when I put the lid on the jug. But when I do keep the lid dry, place ice and gatorade in the jug and THEN put a DRY lid on the jugs, they don't leak 9 out of 10 times on my way to the courts. And on the 10th trip maybe I get a trickle, and that leak is due to operator error as I didn't tighten the lid.

When driving to and from the courts, I put my jugs in a small cooler or wedge them in a box so they don't fall over. Isn't this just common sense? When I drive with a leak-proof coffee mug, I don't lay it sideways to test it. I put in in a cup holder and use it as it was intended. Maybe I just don't expect Coleman and all these companies to issue common sense with their jugs. Don't lay them on their sides with lids that aren't secure. I don't work for Coleman and any company that makes any product. I simply use these jugs and they work great for me. They work so great, I have four 1/2 gallon ones and two gallon ones.

Love it! I purchased for my 13-yr old volleyball player and have no complaints. I prefer this older model of the Coleman jug - other VB moms that purchased the newer model or other name brand models often complain of leaking...I've not had that problem with this jug. I fill to the top with ice and then fill with water - ice keeps water cold all day, even after a 9-hour camp!

I love this thing. I fill it up once a day and it has all the water I need for the day. So why the ⭐️? Because it leaks (That's obvious) but also there are two other problems. First, it hisses. Air gets trapped somewhere and makes a really weird hissing sound at all hours of the day. Especially when it's quite. Second, it has a spicket that swivels to let water flow or closes it. This is incredibly hard to clean. No not inside the spicket, although you will get frustrated with a cotton swab, but the sides and underneath. You can't reach those areas. Mold grows fast on this thing too. I wouldn't recommend it.
