As for the warnings in other reviews about not being able to buy replacement bulbs, LED's do not burn out. In addition, they require very little energy to produce light, and you will be surprised at how long your batteries will last.
We did not think that changing batteries in this lamp was challenging.
It's a good buy. The price is very reasonable for what you get.
My mother-in-law liked the way it looked just like the old Coleman lanterns that used kerosine for fuel.
The only real downside to the lantern is that it requires 8 "D" batteries. I use rechargable batteries. For the past 2-3 weeks we have been using the light at night on our porch, leaving it on the low setting for several hours each night, and with periodic periods of an hour or so at higher levels. Thus far, the batteries have yet to run down. Obviously the LED lantern will provide many hours of light on a single charging of the batteries.
I think this lantern is excellent, far superior to the other Coleman we tried (the Coleman 4D Pack Away, LED Lantern.
I also like that it takes 8 D Cells and will last a very long time on any setting, this is an excellent emergency power outage light to have for general illumination.
If I were to only have one emergency lantern this would be the one - I have 6.
