The Collaboration Effect by Michael Gregory is all aboutdeveloping connecting relationships, listening actively and educatingjudiciously - they are the ingredients for success that business, professionalsand everyday people can use to overcome conflict and achieve greatresults.  As an attorney turned C-suite executive, I have appliedMichael's Collaboration Effect in practice.  Not only did I achieve greatresults, I developed a greater appreciation of emotional, listening andconversational intelligence that has led to more fulfilling work and personalsatisfaction.  I highly recommend The Collaboration Effect to anyone thatdesires to better their understanding of overcoming conflict in life orbusiness.

The Collaboration Effect isespecially relevant during this highly stressful time of COVID. With loss ofactual connection, people seem burned out from virtual socialization. Needlessto say, many folks are a little more stressed and irritable these days. MichaelGregory's read-worthy book, although not written specifically for our COVIDrestricted lives, includes very useful specifics on understanding other'sconcerns and apprehension in his section on 'Modeling Integrity duringTransitions'.

Whilereading the book, I found myself using Michael's suggestions in 'AligningSocial Skills with Difficult People', to effectively diffuse a tenseconversation with a demanding club member during a planning call. Thankyou, Michael, for writing this thought-provoking and very compassionate book!

5.0 out of 5 stars These collaboration techniques work!
By Carol Kaemmerer on January 1, 2021
Gregory makes his case that his Collaboration Effect techniques are powerful even before you even arrive at Chapter 1, recounting this story: a lawyer coached by Gregory on collaborative methodology shifted the situation from a party owing the IRS $1.6 million to the IRS providing the party a $400,000 refund on previously paid taxes. BOOM! Credibility established. The rest of the book delivers sound, easy-to-understand and implement techniques that teach one how to connect with others, actively listen and educate judiciously to build bridges to negotiate closure. By being “hard on the problem and gentle on the people” Gregory teaches the reader specific collaboration skills to overcome conflict with empathy. What a better world this could be if we all approached conflict in this way. The Collaboration Effect: Overcoming Your Conflicts should be on the top of your reading list in this new year.

This book provides useful information and practical guidance for those involved in complex negotiations. Mike Gregory draws from his considerable experience in achieving conflict resolution to assist the reader through a well thought out and practical process to achieve positive successful outcomes, even in the most difficult cases. I highly recommend this book to business appraisers and others dealing in potential litigation or tax-related matters.
