Collage Discovery Workshop is whimsical, loads of fun and teaches many techniques in creating your own personal art. Claudine's personal style might not be your own but it's easy to combine her instructions with your own artistic flair. The book covers all of the basics of tools & suplies, hand-drawn elements, creating narrative photo collage and family portraits. (She will encourage you to put your families pictures on fabric dolls.) If I had to sum it all up, I would say that this book is just pure fun. It made me laugh out loud while playing with all the elements of collage. I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't take their collage art too seriously.
My only disappointment was that all the pieces were very much alike in color(s) and tone, but HEY! that's what this particular book offers; and after all, didn't I purchase it for inspiration, technique, and guidance so that I could begin producing my OWN art, rather than copy the Teacher? So, I highly recommend this book, and will be facinated to see where Claudine's next turn in the road takes her.
Beautifully illustrated, step-by-step instructions, color photos, helpful hints and unique tips for making her art your own make this book a must buy.
