Jonathan Talbot is one of the most influential collage artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Deborah Snider’s book offers an in-depth view of the artist’s creative process and work. The book features full-page color reproductions of thirty-three Talbot collages accompanied by commentaries which offer unique insights into the evolution of the individual works. Included is a 16-page interview in which Talbot discusses his artistic development, his creative process, what inspires him, the innovative techniques he has developed, and much more. Also included is an essay by art historian Andrew Marvick which explores the history of collage and Talbot's place in that history. The book appendix contains lists of: the materials used in the works, selected solo and group exhibitions, publications containing reproductions of Talbot collages, and public collections which hold Talbot works.

About the authors: Deborah Snider is Assistant Professor of Art Education at Southern Utah University. Andrew Marvick is Professor of Art History at Southern Utah University.

I don't know much about art, and when I took a workshop with Jonathan, I was enchanted to find that with his straightforward instruction I too could do collage, even though mine were rather crudely constructed. This book provides a different side of Jonathan. I could see the complexity of his work, and of the thought that goes into each piece. The book provides a history of art, as it is reflected in the diverse strands of his collages. The works are beautiful, and the publication is beautifully put together.
