My senior dog was suffering from renal failure and congestive heart failure. We were providing in home hospice care. Toward the end of his time, he developed a pressure wound sore on his left upper shoulder that became quite severe in a short amount of time (grade III or IV). It was not healing using other treatment routines (debridement, disinfecting and keeping clean and bandaged). In addition to applying a warm saline compress to clean the area, then applying Nutrasilver to disinfect, I used a French green clay compress for a few days to draw out any infection or toxins. I put a sterile pad over it, then used sterile gauze wrap to hold it in place.. This improved things quite a bit, but still the wound was not mending. After doing some research, I came across a recommendation to use Collasate. I had previous experience using Collasate on a dehisced post operative wound on another dog. I also decided to purchase Derma Gel Spray to use as well. The results were dramatic and extremely effective. I cleaned the sore and region daily with warm saline solution, added a few drops of Nutrasilver, then applied Collasate and Derma Gel Spray and re-bandaged. The sore began to mend and looked amazing. My dear pet passed on due to renal failure, but the pressure sore was nearly completely healed when he passed. I would recommend Collasate to anyone who has encountered this type of problem. Even though it is for pets, I believe it would also be beneficial for humans as well.

About three weeks ago, my dog suffered a quarter-sized gash one his fore leg while chasing a ball. Apparently, he ran into a branch while running at full speed. The vet immediately put him on antibiotics and 1% silvadene cream to be applied 2-3 times a day. Additionally, he had to wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from licking the wound and cream off. After about a week or so, there was very little evidence of healing so a 2nd trip to the vet was necessary. He said that he'd like to try Collasate it was much more aggressive and would probably speed up the healing. After about two days with the Collasate, there was a marked improvement and you could literally see new skin growing at the site of the injury! After just a week, the entire would was practically healed except for a tiny area about the size of a clicker on a ball point pen! The vet just took another look at it and was very satisfied at the speed at which he healed! The trick was to keep the E-collar on the dog to keep the area from being licked or getting wet.
Aside from dogs, this product is safe for any species of animal, including humans. The vet said he's used it on birds, reptiles, cats, and other exotic animals.
Collasate has the consistency of honey and dries clear in about five minutes. It looks like cellophane over the area to which it's applied. A dressing really isn't necessary since it forms sort of an invisible "protective shield." However, when I took my dog out for his morning romps, I covered the affected area with a very small piece of non-stick gauze and vet tape (self-adhering) to keep the area dry. Once home, I removed the dressing and reapplied a tiny bit more of Collasate.
I HIGHLY recommend this product without hesitation.

This is an excellent product to protect, provide pain relief and speed healing of wounds in pets, but not just postoperative wounds. The gel is easy to apply to small areas and gives good thick coverage, but for larger areas the spray type works better. The gel must dry after application before dressing the wound. If the animal may try to lick the wound try the spray as it has a bitter deterrent that the gel does not. I wish I had found this product years ago.

If you have any kind of blemishes, bug bites, scratches, or sores of any kind, put this stuff on and put a bandage over it. You will find that in one day (or overnight), your sore or whatever will be MUCH, much better. I've even used this stuff on my cat. LOL

Our Vet had provided this for one of our injured cats. It works great at protecting wounds and speeds healing. Plus it is safe for cats. Was very happy to see it available on Amazon. It is a must have for cat friends with several cats.

Got here quick in two days... much cheaper than purchasing at the vet. For our Great Dane's nose, he had a raw spot and this worked perfect!
