Anne Anthony credits her steady diet of comic books for her ardent belief in superpowers. Her gritty, tender, and amusing stories feature compelling, but flawed humans with bursts of superhero traits. She delights in unmasking the extraordinary in the ordinary downward (and upward) spirals of life. Her career spans the fields of social work, technical writing, clinical law school education, and software project and program management.

Her fiction, essays, and poetry have been published in StoryNews, Prime Magazine, A Quiet Courage, Tell Us A Story, Glass Mountain, Blue Heron Review, The North Carolina Literary Review, Poetry South, and other literary journals.

She lives in Carrboro, North Carolina with her husband and her feisty dog, Clara.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick as a Flash
By JudyAnn Lorenz on April 1, 2018
I bought my copy because I am acquainted with one of the collection contributors, Joy Ross Davis. I like that each story is short, without extraneous profanity and aimed at reading aloud to people struggling with memory loss or to stimulate discussion either about the plot, the theme, the author's intent -- so many different things. .

The stories are good; some are more to my taste than others, but there is a wide variety range. I admire the authors because my perception of Flash Fiction is something written in completion within limits of time and/or word count. I don't have any information about writing time limits, but the word count is in the 500 to 750 words per story range! That gets any author some stars from me because a tight word count is very HARD to write.

The photographs are special and amazingly apropos for the accompanying story. The inviting cover is an unfinished painting by a popular artist, the late Marilyn Penrod. Her favorite reading chair is featured. I can appreciate the comfort shown there! I would enjoy a chair like that one.
