If you take the time to read the book it is engaging and sometimes funny. The author explains the math very well using real-world situtations. The application problems are great for bringing the concepts home.

I bought this book on Amazon for my son who is in high school. Although the book is meant for a College level course, the material is well within the reach of a motivated high school student. The author unambiguously explains the concepts and the algebraic manipulation are very nicely illustrated. The author draws extensively on real life application of algebraic formulations and models. However none of this degenerates into a flippant treatment of the topic. the Connected Math series are characteristic of the latter - stay away from those books if you have a choice. All in all an excellent book.

Blitzer has done a great job breaking down the concepts of College Algebra. The examples are detailed and students are able to get immediate feedback on their understanding after each topic with what he calls "check points". I like the real-world applications for each lesson and the chapter test solutions on CD. I am a teacher using this book in a high school classroom.

Package arrived with minor damage to cover, otherwise, book was in very good condition. This book steps a person through the mathematics very well. Gives great examples and explanations. Over all, very good; I like it.

I love this Textbook. It starts off like any other Math book and gives a review of pass concepts before moving the student forward. My only issue is the condition of the book. My saying this is the seller fault. I brought a used copy and got what I paid for. But I will be ordered a another one soon. I don't know why I am picky about small things like that. But like I rated above: 5 Stars. Would shop with this seller again.
