iquid Insulator Wax is in a class all its own when it comes to long-term durability, easy application, and paint enhancement. The liquid car wax was created to insulate electrical components, but it has become one of the foremost liquid car waxes on the market by word-of-mouth of Collinite’s very satisfied customers. Liquid Insulator Wax is used on automobiles, trucks, buses and aircraft where protection is key, but frequent reapplications are not practical. The wax is excellent for fleets. It leaves a high gloss, nearly indestructible clear coating that repels water, pollution, sun, salt spray, bugs, and more. Liquid Insulator Wax provides tough protection against adverse weather conditions. It makes a great “winter wax” when you want tough paint protection against road salt, snow and ice, without sacrificing shine. Collinite’s headquarters are in New York where harsh winters are the norm. They know a thing or two about durable paint protection. In the summer, Insulator Wax stands up to the heat and UV rays better than most carnauba waxes. You can even use 845 on boats to guard the hull against salt water oxidation. Now that’s a tough wax! Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845 Liquid Insulator Wax can be applied by hand or using a dual action polisher equipped with a finishing pad. If applying by hand, simply wipe on Liquid Insulator Wax using a poly foam applicator. It takes very little to cover each panel. Buff with a Cobra Microfiber Towel. This towel has excellent grip for removing waxes, and it will make application of Insulator Wax even quicker. You will find the wax easiest to remove if you apply a thin coat and do not let it completely haze over before buffing. To apply by machine: work at a low speed with no pressure since you are simply applying a product. Use a microfiber bonnet over a lambswool pad to remove Insulator Wax. Apply wax to one section at a time, wait 30 seconds, and then buff.

Before using, put it in a cup and run it under hot water for 5 min or set it in the sun.
After that, shake it like you've never shook anything. Shake it very hard.
once you've done that, grab a towel and squeeze the chunk of product in the nozzle that hasn't liquified out.
Apply, 2 to 3 pea sized dots to your applicator pad. Less is more with this product. DO NOT OVER APPLY THIS PRODUCT. YOU WILL BE IN A WORLD OF HURT TRYING TO REMOVE IT. as long as you've got a good amount of experience with applying waxes and sealants you should be good to go. This should go without saying, but some nice, high gsm, clean microfibers will help exponentially as well.
in the end, this product harnesses exceptional results with incredible longevity. I like to put this on top of wolfgang paint sealant. Follow these directions and you should be pretty happy with this product! Autogeek has some good forums on this product if you need a better explanation.
Then I go over the paint with a coat of Chemical Guys Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish Enhancer which is another fantastic product that is very easy to apply. Finally I hit it with two coats of Collinite 845 to give it a protective coating by applying a thin layer and letting it sit for approx two minutes before buffing it off with a microfiber towel. Water beads up nicely with this stuff. I'm sold. Just keep it away from the plastic trim.
I included a few picks of our Dodge 1500 - Hyundai Sonata (harder to tell on white paint) - and the hood of our 2001 Chevy Suburban all finished with Collinite 845 Wax.
On a side note, if your looking for your paint to pop while using this stuff, you may want to look elsewhere. While the protection is second to none, it will not provide, IN MY OPINION, a deep, wet shine. Might I suggest using 845 as a topper over Meguiar's NXT 2.0 or Blackfire Wet Diamond. I'd say on its own, it provides more of a soft glow than a deep shine. This is on an Apex Silver Lancer Evo X.

As an update, after layering this wax I have seen a massive improvement in the depth of shine on the paintwork and the clarity is fantastic as you can see from the photos. This is a dream to work with as it glides across the paintwork with ease as you only need a thin layer on each panel to achieve excellent results. It's also very easy to buff off as long as you stick to the system of thin layers! I've used this on everything all over the car with it all ending up shining like new, well, very close! I won't change from this wax now as it is absolutely superb.
A little really does go a long way when it comes to this product, if you apply it too thickly you won't have a fun time when it comes to buffing it off. It's not the easiest product to work with, and you need to give it a good few minutes to dry before you buff it off; but the extra effort is rewarded with a truly fantastic deep glossy shine. The finish really is outstanding and it's comparable (at the very least!) to waxes with prices far, far north of this.
In my experience, Collinite waxes have amazing durability; and this lives up to that reputation and more. Even months after applying, it still beads water very aggressively and provides excellent protection for the paint.
In short, not the easiest product to work with (but to be honest if you're careful it's not that difficult) - but the results you can achieve are brilliant and well worth the extra bit of effort. Well worth the money.
Easy to apply. Easy to buff and one coat last around two weeks in a Cumbrian winter.
Add layers over a few washes and it's just remarkable how well it works and lasts. Literally the rain washes off a lot of the dirt as it just can't stick.
The other halfs Yaris always gets filthy in this weather. Being flat backed it's a dirt magnet. Two layers of this and three weeks later it's still relatively clean. Looks like it's been washed every weekend which it hasn't.
Keeps alloys from getting ingrained dirt and has a rainx effect on windscreens and side windows.
Best buy in years. Highly recommended.
I have just bought some Autosmart Carnauba Gold wax instead (third of the price) which is good. Harder to apply and get off but leaves a great shine.
I will probably buy more Collinite 845 because it is so easy to use. It all depends on how long the new stuff stays on for and continues to 'bead' as I'm not concerned that it's harder to use. If I don't have a lot of time, I'll use Collinite. If I do, I'll use the Autosmart Carnauba Gold. Simple.
Some reviewers say they will never use anything else again, but I think it's good to try different products as modern waxes are fabulous and getting better all the time, and different products have different qualities and uses.
Don't let the packaging throw you off - there are no pictures of shiney supercars and photoshopped sparkles here: this stuff sells itself without the overhyped drama that many products rely on.
Durable: absolutley - I get about 2-3 months in crappy northern irish weather.
Finish: I have a solid black golf mk5, really nice 'wet look', perfect!
Ease of application: it honestly couldn't be easier, a little bit goes a long long way, and easy/clean to buff
Beading: OOHHHH YES...
NOTE: when you first open it, it will appear lumpy - this is normal. just put it into a bowl of warm water for 5 mins and shake it up, it'll flow like melted butter :)
I've tried loads of waxes over the years. Yes they work, but doesn't hold off the dirt as well as this stuff. You can use this wax on your wheels and it does keep off the brake dust, which as we know is a pain to get off.
To use this wax, you have to heat it up to get the wax to liquid. But trust me on this, you only need a bit, it feels like it's a concentrated product.
A little bit goes a long way. It will protect your paint work and your wheels too. It really is that good. Easy to put on and take off. Just don't put it on your front window screen. Yes, you can use it on glass too. A BIG thumbs up from me 👍.
