Color Blind was good. I loved the plot line, and all of the characters. But I felt like the book sort of dragged on a little bit, then ended with a major plot twist, bomb being dropped on our heads. I couldn't believe it just ended like that as well! Now I'm beyond annoyed, but super excited to start the next. I don't want to give anything away, but wow that was just WOW!
I will say that it was really interesting to see more of Red and Teresa and their abilities as well. And Red seems to be learning more and more each day. I love that dog! And it was also nice to get a little bit more insight into Bas, and his feelings too. Now I just need the next book!
The humor in such endeavors, along with all the normal everyday things, is what this author really excels at providing. I’ve learned to expect nothing less from this story about a dog who can communicate in such fascinating ways, constantly making me laugh. We’ve already gotten to know and like all the main characters in the first book and so it’s very satisfying to now see how they interact, cope with new problems and reveal even more things from their past. Plus, a few more characters are added as the plot thickens and events evolve, drawing us in and keeping us involved.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I can’t say enough about what a satisfying read this is. Now, on to the next book which I’m sure will have even more of all this delightful stuff and, hopefully, a resolution to that WHOPPING twist at the very end which I definitely did NOT see coming.
The main characters reprise their roles from the first story, and we add a few new friends to our growing cast. I love the chemistry between Teresa and David, and I think we gain a much better understanding of Bas in this story. I have a lot more empathy for him this time around for sure. And of course, we have Janey and Ken, aka Barbie and Ken. New characters include an over-the-top drag queen, Jason/Jinx. We also get to know Gil from the police department much better. We add a few new ex-military comrades to the circle around Teresa as well. And you can't leave out Red, that silly boy, he is just the star of the whole show. I love his running commentary, and I would swear that my own German shepherd thinks pretty much along the same lines, though we are not able to mind speak, thank goodness!
The story much picks up just a little after where Blind Seduction left off. They finally figure out where some information was sent when the military "unofficially" tries to muscle their way into getting Team Red's service. SO not gonna happen! That allowed a segue way into introducing Lieutenant Spencer, and a couple trusted members of his team. We also get to meet Teresa's loser ex-boyfriend, Devon. (Bleck!) Anyhow, Team Red has its first official military contract to gather intell. It is full of planning and plotting, and Teresa and Red discover a few new things about their special connection. I don't want to give too much away, so you will have to read the story to find out! My only "complaint" the end left me screaming "Nooooooo!" and now I have to wait for the next installment of the Team Red series to come out to see what happens. (huffy sigh!)
This is a fun, fast-paced read that offers action, humor and romance all nicely packaged into one. If you haven't already before, you will fall in love with Red!! His "doggy philosophy" is often precocious, but sometimes wise beyond belief. AND you must read the author's notes at the end of the story - she explains the joys and challenges of being an Indie author.
I highly recommend this book if you like a combo of humor, action and romance. Author T.Hammon also writes these stories for a younger age range as well (less adult romance), so consider that for younger readers too. Over all: two thumbs way up!
