These lights are absoulutely awesome. I have 7000 lights surrounding my house and these are the coolest set I have. The price at Amazon is more expensive trhan COSTCO however. You can get these at COSTCO for $64.99 after taxes in Colorado. Oh, you cannot connect multiple sets as well. You need to have a separate outlet for each set.

The prices for these lights online are ghastly... I just purchased the last set at my local Costco for a whopping $66 after tax.

As for the lights themselves, they are simply amazing. The bulbs are HUGE, even larger than the old C9s we used to put up when I was a kid but the color changing effects are wondrous. All transitions are incredibly smooth (no flicker) and there are 14 different patterns.

I used the lights ONE night at Halloween, then put them up on my gutters using the included clips last week. Now they are DEAD, after 8 days of use. I gave it 2 stars only because they were bright, the various pre-programmed "shows" were cool, and the length was perfect for my house. They are guaranteed for 3 years, so I will try to get them replaced but I doubt that will happen before Christmas.
UPDATE: Called the warranty phone number and a human answered. They are shipping us a new controller.
UPDATE: New controller has now lasted another season! (January 2013)

I cant explain how well these lights shine and work. You have to see them for yourself. They are very bright and nice. The best I have seen and used ever. I researched for days before I bought 6 sets of these. All my neighbors love them. Even people who pass by my house, say awesome light show. They stare at it and all say "WOW".

Not sure why these are so expensive on Amazon. <Currently $91.39 ?! >
I found them for $69 at Lowes and the other reviewer said they were only $66 at a Cosco.
The lights are great but this is not a good deal

Have to agree that prices around the Web are extremely high. We purchased two sets of these at Costco for under $65 each. So far they're working perfectly.

As a bonus, each string comes with a set of (nominally) 52 gutter clips and 52 matching socket clips, that mate for perfect "parade rest" mounting on a rain gutter or similar bit of structure. (I say "nominal" since one of our sets came with 53 socket clips, and the other with only 48 -- so if we had bougnt only the second set we'd have been out of luck!).

Good value at Costco, not so much so from other sources.

UPDATE: We purchased two more sets of these lights at Costco last November (2012), and again, the Costco price (about $65) was half the best price to be found elsewhere. If Costco can sell at their price, it seems that the rest of the world must be making an obscene profit on these delightful lights.

We don't have a Costco near us, and the stores we do have (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart etc...) only had the smaller strings.
So we purchased a 36 LED string from Lowes, and then ordered this 50 LED string here. One remote is supposed to work with any and all of the g-35 strings, unfortunately the 50 LED string I ordered from Amazon will not respond to the remote supplied or the one from the 36 LED string... yet it powers on to the alternating wave function (so I will be getting with customer service in the morning to discuss a possible controller replacement - but the function it happened to start with is one of the better ones and is good enough for this season so I am only mildly frustrated (more so if i consider the price over Costco)

sooo no real warning - but it may have been the reason you read my review :) my real title I guess would be "Very bright and vivid color"

BTW: To set strings with equal count lights to the same starting function you must plug them in one at a time, set it to the desired "starting" point and power them off (they will store that in non-volatile memory)... doing the same for each string then powering them all on to the same starting point, then toggling them all from any one of the remotes.
And as stated in other reviews they do not terminate with a power socket ... each string must start at a separate power source.

Also consider looking at the hacking community websites for mention of the GE G-35 bulbs - there are numerous warranty voiding projects for these - Arduino based ones mostly, but plenty of other options as well...

I'd rate these lights 5 star, except for reliability problems. I purchased and hung 2 sets up high last year, the changing color effect is very nice. However, the AC power adapter on one string died before the end of the first season was over. There doesn't seem to be a replacement part you can order from what I can tell, GE should sell that part because I'm sure I'm not the only one to have had that problem.

So.... this year I wired up an AC adapter from a old wireless router (5V 2.5A)I had, works great, and they are back in service again! Let's see how long they hold up.
