This is a color workshop in a book
Im all about hands-on learning, and I think for colorists of any kind (meaning those of you working with color no matter if it is coloring books, paintings, costuming, fashion...whatever) it's important to have and understanding of color theory.
Dawn walks you through the color wheel and how/why certain types of color groupings work
you get to break out your colored pencils and see it all first hand.
Can you use markers? Sure, but they will bleed through the paper, and there is information you are going to want on the backs of the pages.
The author recommends pencils for a reason--but don't sweat it if you don't have the expensive ones, you can do this book with any basic set of colored pencils.
This is a fun coloring book, I love mandalas and eastern themed patterns!
And in true academic fashion, dawn includes a reading list in the back for those of you who want to lean more on color theory and application
