I saw this film at a screening at Bard College and it was absolutely amazing. The film is just so very crucial in understanding the landscape of contemporary and historical african american art. The film is very compelling and offers insightful glances into the little know, nor understood, world of professional black art. There was also a question and answer session afterwards with the brilliant filmmakers who were very knowledgeable in offering answers to all question. very much recommended.

I saw this wonderful film at a screening at NYU where filmmaker, artists and musician were present, along with a discussion afterwards. The film-maker tracked down African American Artists to interview them about their artwork--what motivates them, their challenges, etc. The musical accompaniment works wonderfully well with the interviews and artwork. This film should be shown on public TV, museums, film festivals and schools to inspire youth in their creativity.

Very inspiring. I very much appreciated being introduced to artists I never knew. Many thanks to those artists who paved the way by demonstrating confidence in their own gifts and in staying true to their own unique artistic form.
