About the Author
Pat DuVal grew up in the segregated Deep South. He struggled to find his footing, and his soul. His time in the Army helped, especially when he was stationed as an MP in the Panama Canal Zone. He later wound up on the Monterey Peninsula in California where he became the county's first black sheriff. He was also able to pursue there his first love of singing, and has become known far and wide as The Singing Sheriff.

Congratulations, Mr. DuVal.
Well done Pat. Proud to have known you & loved reading your story. I never knew about your background but am now even more impressed by the person you have become. So glad you ended up on the Monterey Peninsula as I'm sure your many friends are also.
