Product Description

Keeps you light on your feet. When they're 2000ft above the ground.

The NIAD climber's knife is designed to be light in weight only. This compact, heavy-duty folder is ready for action. Just like the man who created it.

Hans Florine is a world record-holding speed climber from Lafayette, CA who knows the importance of taking only what you need to conserve energy. That's why he made every ounce count with the NIAD.

The super lightweight knife features a simple two-piece design—because you don't want anything complicated while climbing. A stainless steel blade seats against the frame and eliminates the need for a sheath or additional parts while climbing. Welcome news for those who are looking for something that's high-function but not high-maintenance.

Additionally, a titanium handle resists corrosion and can be secured in place by simply putting a carabiner through the loop handle feature. So it's climber ready whenever you are.

If you're looking for a knife that pulls its own light weight on the climb, get a good handhold on the NIAD.

In 2016, Hans released his first book about his record setting speed climbing accomplishments aptly titled "On The Nose, A Lifelong Obsession with Yosemite's Most Iconic Climb".

The knife has some good points, it's small and light and sharp for sure. The down side is getting it opened is not easy, the action is very very tight and rough.Even with two hands it is not easy at all, the biggest problem is the item has changed from the one pictured. There is no thumb stud, it has a fingernail slot for opening which makes it nearly impossible to do one handed. The blade is sharp out to the tip, so there is no way to even assist in opening,,,, very dangerous!I am a knife guy and love EDC and thought this would be a nice little secondary,,,, no way,,,, I sent it back.Don't buy it, item is not as displayed

Knife is tiny and fits (and locks shut) on a small or regular size carabiner. Gave a few as gifts for Christmas but I haven't actually used the knife yet. It's definitely an emergency knife and not an EDC. It's pretty lightweight so I wouldn't plan to use it for anything heavy duty. I've had a climbing partner drop their pocket knife on me while belaying them so this is a great solution to that!!

This is a very light compact knife with excellent cutting ability. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact I had to return it. The liner lock popped over to the wrong side of blade. Which then jams and the knife is stuck open. You can fix it by hammering it back to the correct side but this would damage the mechanism. This is an excellent emergency knife but not good for daily or hard use. Unless I just got a defective one.

What a cool piece of gear for a weight weenie gear nerd! You don't even have to do the "Nose in a day" to own this "Niad" knife designed by Hans Florine. When clipped with a biner it prevents from accidentally opening the blade. the knife blade is stainless steel and the handle is made of titanium to save weight. It's very small but the bottom big notch of the blade part adds the handle length when open to give enough leverage. I've heard CRKT discontinue this knife now. Get em while supply last.

Great idea, size, and function. Super sharp and super light and compact. The design is pretty good, except for one major problem! Kept this on my harness for a month and luckily caught that the pin that keeps the knife blade from exposing itself had fallen out. Clipping a carabiner in the large hole prevents the knife from opening one way, but once the pin that keeps it from opening the other way falls out as mine did, I'm pretty upset about having a razor sharp blade that close to my primary life saving equipment.. maybe this should be welded in instead of the very lame attempt at a rivet that obviously does not last.

This thing is perfect for alpine rock and ice climbing. It goes on my carabiner with extra v-thread rap cord and weighs almost nothing.
